Half an hour later, Gilda felt as though she had developed depression.
"Um, Dr. Gilda, please calm down." Looking at Gilda's expression, Roland had a bad feeling.
"I'm fine." Gilda took a deep breath. "I can do this."
"Why don't we stop here for today?" Roland hardly dared let her continue.
"Well... all right." Gilda nodded. "You should be careful, too. Don't do anything that might trigger her—especially don't let her see animals being slaughtered."
"Understood." Roland nodded.
Roland Cathedral.
The moment Roland stepped through the door, he turned right around with the little girl in his arms.
"What's wrong?" Merlin asked, puzzled.
"These little bastards really know how to make trouble for me!" Roland said through gritted teeth.
"Hm?" Merlin poked his head inside. A party was underway in the cathedral, which was fine in itself, but the boys had somehow bought several whole, uncooked sheep. They were carving them up while barbecuing them. It was quite a wild scene.
"We'd better wait a while before going in." Roland wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Go take a walk outside," Merlin said, crouching beside Miriel.
"Tell them to save me some," Roland said.
"..." Merlin couldn't be bothered to move, so he simply cast a spell into the cathedral.
"I'll have a look around, then." Roland walked around the cathedral grounds. The area was no longer as desolate as before. Quite a few poor people from the East End had built shacks here.
"Have a lovely day!"
"That voice sounds familiar." Roland walked toward the shacks and saw Kate handing out aid.
Kate had brought several truckloads of everyday necessities, leaving Roland rather astonished.
"Are you preparing for your mayoral campaign?" Roland asked after exchanging a few pleasantries with Kate.
"Yes." Kate nodded. "Cobblepot is probably doing the same
