Man-Bat raised his head, mule blood dripping from the corners of his mouth. His eyes glowed eerily as he glared viciously at the man.

"M-monster!" The mule's owner was a typical redneck. Though badly frightened, he gritted his teeth and aimed his shotgun at Man-Bat, his eyes fixed firmly on him.

But a moment later, his gaze cleared.

Batman pulled a thick wad of dollar bills from his pocket and held it up before the man's eyes. Man-Bat's terrifying face gave way to Franklin's friendly one, and the man's expression instantly grew much more amiable.

"I'm buying your mule," Batman said. "And paying for your door. This should cover it, right?"

"Oh, sure, sure, sure! I've got a donkey too. Would you like that?"

"No need. Go get some rest." Batman slapped the money into his hand, took the now-sated Man-Bat back to the car, and drove away.

"Your belly—you look like you're pregnant with quintuplets." Roland couldn't help commenting on Man-Bat's round stomach.

"A vampire bat can drink anywhere from fifty to two hundred percent of its body weight in blood at once. You're very similar to a real bat in that respect too," Batman said.
