"Ready?" The Flash tied two reins around his waist and looked at the group sitting in the carriage behind him. "You really are treating me like a pack animal."

"What do you mean, a pack animal? This is a perfectly normal division of labor," Roland said. "You've got this. We're all counting on you this time."

"—Let's go." The Flash stepped forward, golden lightning from the Speed Force gathering around his legs. "It's a bit of a trek, so I'll need to pick up speed. Don't worry if you feel a little dizzy."

"I'll be fine." Superman locked the carriage and extended his bio-electric aura, enveloping everyone aboard.

Since this involved a war across the Multiverse, only a small group had come: Superman provided the muscle, Batman the brains, and Roland the lack of standards, with Cyborg, Jason, Raven, and Wonder Woman along as insurance.

"We're here." After an indeterminate stretch of time, The Flash stopped in a vast desert.

Everything ahead was a murky yellow. A strong wind blew sand and gravel into his face, making The Flash squint. "Weird. I locked onto Batman's location. Did I drift off target?"

Superman opened the carriage. "Where are we?"

"No idea. Looks like a desert—" Roland pointed in one direction. "Hmm, I can sense this world's Batman. He's a few kilometers away, but he seems to be in pretty bad shape."

"I'll bring him over." The Flash vanished, then reappeared with a Batman whose appearance could only be described as bizarre. He wore an asylum straitjacket and carried a streetlamp containing Joker's head—which could even talk.

"Holy crap—even among the Dark Knights, that look would stand out," Cyborg couldn't help remarking.

"Now that's The Dawnbreaker," Wonder Woman quipped.

"I think so too—" Roland nodded.
