"W-warmly welcomed by our church," Jason said.
"...Is that right?" Kara froze.
"Oh, don't be so formal. We're all friends here," Lex Luthor said readily. "I'll also be withdrawing from the anti-Superhero Corporation alliance. Do whatever you like with the rest of them. I won't interfere."
"You mean you won't dare interfere," Kara quipped.
"I'll also have the DX out in space move away from the Solar System." Lex Luthor ignored Kara's remark.
"Wait, what's that?" Jason asked in confusion.
"Oh, you don't know?" Lex Luthor didn't answer directly. "Then ask Superman. They know, and they've already started keeping an eye on it."
"That sounds pretty dangerous," Kara said. Anything that warranted Superman personally keeping watch might not be able to destroy Earth, but it could at least wipe out a continent.
"Don't worry. It's nowhere near as dangerous as Superman, Roland, The Flash, Green Lantern, Batman... any of them." Lex Luthor scoffed. "All right, I've got pharmaceutical companies to short. Got to go. Bye."
After Lex Luthor hung up, Jason and Kara exchanged a glance. "Why do I get the feeling that was what he was after all along?"
"Not necessarily." Kara shook her head. "Maybe he wanted to see if he could use this chance to screw over my brother. But he couldn't find an opening, so he settled for making a quick buck."
"That's possible too." Jason sighed. "Why do you think he's so obsessed with taking Superman down? Honestly, he barely even counts as a supervillain anymore. If you just go by the number of people he's saved, plenty of superheroes have worse records than he does."
Jason thought for a moment, then said, "Too bad Luthor's awakened psychic abilities too. Otherwise, we could just read his mind and find out."
