"If you can't handle it, that'll just generate even more buzz." Roland patted Batman on the shoulder.
Batman swatted his hand away in disgust. "I have another idea: catch Clayface before he can do whatever he's planning."
"He's hard to catch. Physical attacks don't work on him," Roland suggested. "Why don't you find a magician and give that a try?"
"Magic doesn't exist," Gordon said.
"I don't want to deal with those people." Batman shook his head. "I have a way to handle Clayface, but finding him is the difficult part right now."
"We're counting on you, detective." Harvey gave Batman an encouraging gesture.
"Mm." Batman acknowledged him, a hint of exhaustion in his voice.
"By the way, Harvey, you don't have any personal beef with Clayface, do you? He was probably hired. Any ideas who might be behind it?" Roland asked Harvey.
"I've offended plenty of people, but not many of them could hire Clayface..." Harvey cupped his chin as he thought. "The most likely candidates are Carmine Falcone and Sal Maroni. Especially Sal Maroni. The person who stole my medical records last time was from the Maroni Family."
"Then how about we make some trouble for the Maroni Family first?" Roland suggested.
"The Maroni Family has been restless lately. Be careful you don't walk into a trap," Gordon warned.
"Relax. They won't get the drop on me," Roland said confidently. After exchanging a few more words with them, he headed toward the East End alone.
Gotham City's cool rain began to fall, making Roland feel a slight chill. He lit a cigar, its faint glow illuminating his face as wisps of white smoke rose.
Roland slipped brazenly into Sal Maroni's mansion through a poorly guarded spot and spotted a familiar face in the main hall.
