After more than a week on the deserted island, the rescue team still hadn't arrived. The group expanded their shelter and built a water distiller, a meat-smoking rack, beds, tables, chairs, and a toilet.

Beside the smoking rack, Roland laid out a wild boar's heart and liver to smoke. The sight made everyone shudder.

"If you eat those, you can't eat me," Jason said.

"Who said I was going to eat you?" Roland rolled his eyes.

"You talked in your sleep last night. You said Jason was emergency rations, and you were grinding your teeth. I was too scared to sleep for half the night."

"You misheard me," Roland said quickly.

Jason shot him a look. He didn't believe a word of it.

"It's not like we're out of food. Why would I need to eat you?" Roland flipped the boar's heart. "Go get Bruce for dinner."

"Okay."

"What do you do in that tent all day?" Roland asked Bruce.

"I discovered that the assassin was brainwashed by the League of Assassins. I'm trying to find a way to undo it," Bruce said. "I've studied hypnosis. If I can bring him around, that's one less ticking time bomb beside us."

"He might not have been a good person to begin with. Then we'd have an even bigger problem," Roland said.

"Not necessarily. You can negotiate with a bad person. There's no reasoning with a brainwashed madman."

"All right. Good luck."

"It won't be easy." Bruce took a bite of smoked meat. "Whoever brainwashed him was highly skilled. My hypnosis alone won't be enough to undo it; he'll need a strong will of his own. But I'm confident. Someone without a strong will could never have trained his martial arts to this level."

"Hmm. Could I watch you hypnotize him?"
