After the volunteers left, the people who had gathered to establish a shelter all thanked Volkner and Flint.
Mingyou was just a nobody, after all, and none of them noticed him. That suited him fine, though. At least he would not get swarmed.
He and Riolu went to the entrance of the Pokémon Center. Nurse Joy rested her hands over her abdomen and bowed slightly, offering him her heartfelt thanks.
"It was nothing, really. All I did was bring it up. What matters is that these Pokémon have the right to live."
As he spoke, Mingyou glanced at Riolu, then turned to Arcanine and the others with a smile. "You all take care of yourselves here, too. No one will be able to persecute you on a whim anymore."
"Woof..."
Arcanine shook its head. It did not actually want to live here. The bustle of the city was not for them, and the Pokémon behind it felt the same way. They wanted to return to the wild.
They were not ready to adjust just yet, but one day, they would leave. Still, they were deeply grateful. At least they were safe for now and no longer had to worry about being driven away.
"Back to the wild, huh..."
Once Mingyou understood, he nodded gently. In that case, he could help them one more time.
He smiled and asked, "Then would you like to go to Kitakami? It has a lovely environment, far from the noise of the city, and you won't go hungry there."
