Background / History

Bibi Dong formerly held the position of Spirit Hall’s Saintess and studied under Qian Xunji. In her later public account, she says she admired Yu Xiaogang’s supposed talent and helped him search Spirit Hall’s confidential records for a solution to his Martial Soul mutation. Their relationship became romantic, and she planned to leave Spirit City with him when he decided to depart 256.

According to her testimony, she told Qian Xunji about their intended elopement. He imprisoned and sexually assaulted her, forcing her to bear Qian Renxue. After Tang Hao severely wounded Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong killed him by consuming his soul with her Soul Devouring Spider Emperor. This act was also connected to beginning her Rakshasa God Trial 107 255 256.

Qian Daoliu knew she had killed his son but spared her because Qian Xunji had wronged her, she was Qian Renxue’s mother, and her divine succession might give Spirit Hall another god. He supported her appointment as Pope and initially tolerated her consolidation of authority. Bibi Dong nevertheless regarded the papacy as a means to destroy Spirit Hall and avenge herself against the Angel Clan 35 66 228.

Bibi Dong maintains a composed, authoritative exterior, but challenges to her position or threats to Yu Xiaogang readily break that restraint. Her hatred extends beyond Qian Xunji to the Qian family, Spirit Hall, and eventually the wider world. She knowingly accepts harm to innocent people as a consequence of her revenge and treats loyal Spirit Hall personnel as expendable 93 102 107 157.

Her affection is sharply selective. She treats Hu Liena tenderly while rejecting and insulting Qian Renxue, whose presence recalls Qian Xunji. Occasional maternal regret does not prevent her from repeating that cruelty. Her attachment to Yu Xiaogang is stronger still: she interprets his visits as proof of lingering love, excuses his behavior, and remains devoted even when he disowns and kills her 94 101 108 228 257.

She repeatedly rationalizes her own corruption. After refusing to cultivate an Evil Soul Master technique, she keeps its manual under the pretext of studying it, then uses it while claiming she is merely avenging Xiaogang.
