Background / History

Life among humans

After reaching one hundred thousand years of cultivation, Xiao Wu undergoes Soul Beast Transformation and voluntarily enters human society. She chooses Nuoding City because powerful Soul Masters rarely appear there, making her identity less likely to be exposed 20 27.

At Nouding Academy, she defeats Tang San in their first fight after he becomes careless, taking his newly acquired position as Dorm Seven’s boss. Having brought no bedding, she shares his oversized quilt; their beds are pushed together to accommodate it. Ling Han deliberately supplied the quilt to bring them closer 6.

Xiao Wu leads the work-study students against Xiao Chenyu’s group after he demands that she become his “pet.” She rejects the humiliation and welcomes Tang San’s intervention. He defeats Xiao Chenyu and forces him to apologize to her 10.

Leaving Nuoding City

Her bond with Tang San develops through shared dormitory life, sparring, and practical care. When he collapses from training exhaustion, she carries him to bed and wipes his forehead while complaining that he should take better care of himself. After their vacation, the two visit Ling Han holding hands 13 14 20.

When Tang San prepares to leave the academy, Xiao Wu hesitates to abandon the safety of Nuoding City. Recognizing that she has fallen in love with him, she chooses to follow. Ling Han privately reveals that he knows her true identity and promises to protect both of them. Her fear eases further after he lends her an aura-concealing sachet 27 28.

Imperial Fighting Team

At Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Xiao Wu joins the Imperial Fighting Team’s training under Ling Han. He focuses on integrating her existing abilities into the group rather than extensively directing her individual cultivation 30 31.

During a later visit to the Star Dou Great Forest, Er Ming arrives to see her. Xiao Wu becomes frantic when Ling Han restrains him, fearing he will be hurt. Once the situation settles, she reassures Er Ming that she is happy and well cared for among humans, and the two are allowed to speak privately 38.

Concerned about the cultivation gap between Xiao Wu and Tang San, Ling Han gives her Lovesick Heartbreak Red. Her love for Tang San wins the herb’s recognition, and consuming it raises her cultivation to peak rank 37. Ling Han instructs her to conceal the origin of her naturally formed third Soul Ring by saying he took her out to obtain it 41.

Tang San subsequently discovers her nonhuman aura when she removes the sachet while asking him to comb her hair. He confides in Ling Han and unequivocally rejects the suggestion of taking her Soul Ring or Soul Bone 43.

Her affection often appears through teasing and action rather than solemn declarations. She worries over Tang San’s exhaustion, tends to him, and then insists he repay her with something delicious. His rapid cultivation also encourages her to work harder 14 30.

Despite her long life as a Soul Beast, she remains emotionally vulnerable where Tang San is concerned. When Ling Han mentions their widening power gap, she initially fears he intends to separate them. Her caution toward powerful humans is more practical: she tests his sachet before becoming more comfortable trusting him 28 41.
