History

Confrontation with Ling Han

The Ice Empress rules an ice-field territory in the Far North’s Core Area. Seeking her as his eighth Soul Ring, Ling Han forces a ten-thousand-year Ice Jade Scorpion to guide him there. She confronts the intruder with overwhelming pressure and an icicle attack, but his Dragon King Descent invokes the Ice Dragon King’s power and immobilizes her through bloodline suppression 16 17.

Unable to maintain that borrowed power indefinitely, Ling Han pressures her by threatening the Snow Empress. The threat breaks her resistance: she agrees to sacrifice herself on the condition that he will not hurt Xue’er. His divine aura also persuades her that she might eventually ascend with him if he becomes a god 17 18.

Sacrifice and Reunion

The Ice Empress suppresses the ritual’s disturbance to avoid alerting the Snow Empress. Her body disappears, leaving a 380,000-year Soul Ring and a complete left-arm Soul Bone. Her soul survives inside Ling Han’s Sea of Consciousness 18.

After absorbing her gifts, Ling Han reveals that his promise not to hurt the Snow Empress does not prevent him from seeking her out. Despite the Ice Empress’s protests, he broadcasts her Soul Bone’s aura to summon Xue’er. The Snow Empress arrives believing her companion has been killed and attacks him 18 19.

Once Ling Han allows her soul to emerge, the Ice Empress explains that she sacrificed herself because he has the potential to become a god. She withholds the fact that protecting Xue’er was her initial reason. Her longing to remain together helps persuade the Snow Empress to accompany Ling Han and eventually become his ninth Soul Ring 19.

Life as a Soul

Over the following two years, the Ice Empress watches the Snow Empress grow close to Ling Han with mounting jealousy. When Xue’er finally sacrifices herself, the Ice Empress embraces her newly arrived soul, then confronts her about falling for him. The Snow Empress promises that they will always be sisters, leaving the Ice Empress privately wishing for more 24 26 27.

Ling Han researches resurrection pills for both Empresses. The plan requires suitable bodies, corresponding Soul Rings, and rare ingredients, including the Ten-Thousand-Year Nine-Grade Ginseng King. The Ice Empress later enlists her clan to help search the Far North; Ling Han captures the ginseng after half a month. His goal is to restore both women in human form before attaining godhood, allowing them to pursue divine paths of their own 25 35 46 47.

Personality

The Ice Empress is proud, prickly, and quick to retaliate against disrespect. Ling Han’s description of her as a “little girl” provokes an immediate attack. Even after recognizing his superior strength, she initially struggles to submit 17.

Her devotion to the Snow Empress outweighs her pride and concern for her own life. She accepts sacrifice to protect Xue’er, conceals that motive during their reunion, and becomes openly distressed whenever she believes her companion is in danger 18 19.

Her attachment is also possessive. She objects furiously to Ling Han calling the Snow Empress “Xue’er” and hopes their bond might extend beyond sisterhood. Later, she takes amused satisfaction in the Snow Empress’s jealousy over Qian Renxue 24 27 51.

Abilities & Skills

Ice Manipulation and Pressure

  • Creates and launches a huge icicle with a wave of her hand 17.
  • Releases pressure that even a Super Douluo cannot withstand head-on 17.
  • Her power is vulnerable to the Ice Dragon King’s divine aura and bloodline suppression; under Dragon King Descent, her attack disperses and she nearly loses her human form 17.

Soul Power Barrier

  • Erects a barrier to contain the disturbance of her sacrifice 18.
  • Deliberately suppresses the ritual’s blood-red pillar of light so the Snow Empress will not notice it 18.

Sacrifice and Soul Survival

  • Converts her physical existence into a Soul Ring and Soul Bone while preserving her soul 18.
  • The sacrifice does not cause Soul Shock during Ling Han’s absorption 18.
  • Can communicate from within his Sea of Consciousness and manifest externally once its barrier is removed 18 19.
  • Cannot freely escape or interfere: Ling Han’s barrier blocks her departure, while the Ice Dragon King’s soul deters her from attacking his Sea of Consciousness 18 19.

Sacrifice Legacy

Gift Characteristics Result

Relationships

  • Snow Empress / Xue’er — Her closest companion for several hundred thousand years and the person she values most. The Ice Empress longs for a relationship beyond sisterhood, while the Snow Empress offers sisterly affection 17 19 27.
  • Ling Han — Initially an intruder who coerces her sacrifice by threatening Xue’er. Their relationship later becomes more cooperative as he works toward her resurrection, though she remains prickly and insists that only Xue’er may call her “Bing’er” 18 46 47.
  • Ice Dragon King — His dragon soul enables Ling Han to suppress her and later prevents her from disrupting his Sea of Consciousness 17 18.
  • Ice Jade Scorpion Clan — Her subjects remain loyal after her sacrifice. Members with cultivation exceeding a hundred thousand years can communicate with Ling Han and agree to assist the resurrection-ingredient search 46.
