Appearance
Hong Ye is an energetic nineteen-year-old girl whose practical attire reflects her work as a Combat Artificer: a simple shirt, engineer's skirt, and boots. Her equipment is functional rather than conspicuously branded. 40
- Uses a Kingfisher Workshop Magic Furnace, one tier above Fang Heng's model. 40
- Wears a dial-like Magic Stabilizer on her left hand for her Overload Flow setup. 40
- Her Magic Furnace carries a shield generator, shield recharge device, and external cooling device. 40
Personality
Hong Ye favors direct, overwhelming offense and openly considers aggression part of her personal style. She recognizes that impatience is her weakness, but initially has little interest in correcting it. 41
Her aggression is tempered by responsibility. During the Dark Dragon crisis, she checks on injured allies, fights to protect trainees, and quickly accepts Fang Heng's directions once she recognizes the value of his Fairy Construct support. 44 45 46 She is also candid after defeat, acknowledging Fang Heng's superior performance without making excuses. 43
Abilities & Skills
Magic-Guided Flexible Construct Control
Hong Ye specializes in the Annihilator QV700, a magic-guided Flexible Construct that fights through configurable magical subsystems rather than mobility. 40 41
- Uses Flame Ray for rapid ranged firepower and to destroy Dragon People. 41 45 48
- Uses Magic Spear as a high-impact piercing attack; its release is signaled by a cyan magic circle before the Annihilator's Core Crystal. 41
- Uses Gravity Trap and anti-gravity effects to control enemy movement and battlefield positioning. 41 46
- Deploys Shining Field sub-cores to create defensive light shields and form larger shield formations. 42 49
- Can perform multi-control with an Annihilator and its Shining Field sub-cores. 42
- Her construct's rigid movement patterns allow skilled opponents to anticipate her attacks. 41
Overload Flow
Hong Ye employs the ancient Overload Flow tactic, using a Magic Stabilizer and external cooling to force the Annihilator into high-output combat states. 40 41
- Enters Overload to increase the intensity of attacks such as Flame Ray. 41
- Relies on overwhelming output to pressure opponents before heat buildup becomes critical. 42
- Her aggressive temperature management can overheat the Annihilator's core and shut down its subsystems. Fang Heng exploited this weakness during their match. 42
- Her magic reserves decline rapidly during sustained high-output combat. 48
Fairy Construct-Assisted Multi-Control
With Fang Heng linked to Sylvid's Fairy Construct, Meimei, Hong Ye can command multiple Annihilators far beyond her normal control capacity. 45 46
- The Fairy link drastically reduces the computational load of operating the Annihilator's subsystems. 45
- Under Fang Heng's support, she controls two Annihilator QV700s and uses their combined firepower against Dragon People. 46
- Later commands three Annihilators within Tata's larger Fairy network, using their interwoven Flame Rays to clear advancing Dragon People. 48
- Despite the support, she still needs to monitor core temperature and conserve magic. 48
Equipment
- Annihilator QV700 — Her specialty magic-guided Flexible Construct. 40
- Kingfisher Workshop Magic Furnace — Equipped with a shield generator, shield recharge device, external cooling device, and Magic Stabilizer. 40
- Projection device — Allows her to store and materialize additional Annihilator QV700 units. 44 46
- Magic Stabilizer — A key component of her Overload Flow tactic. 40
Relationships
- Fang Heng / “Shaya” — Initially his opponent in the Artisan Challenge. After losing, Hong Ye accepts the result, praises his skill, fights alongside him during the Dark Dragon incident, and invites him to join the Taboris Oak Knights. 43 45 46 50
- Wu Di — A fellow Combat Artificer and temporary ally during the Dark Dragon crisis. They coordinate around protecting the trainees and organizing the group's escape. 44 47
- Liuli Yue — A frequent verbal opponent from the Silverwood Spear; despite their arguments, both cooperate during the emergency. 43 45 47
- Luo Yu and Jita — Junior trainees of the Taboris Oak Knights, who address her as “Sister Hong Ye.” She considers Fang Heng's group a good team for them. 43
- Etila — An ally during the Dark Dragon incident. Etila's Entangle spell gives Hong Ye the opening needed to kill the Dragon Person Warrior Chief. 46
- Parker — Hong Ye saves him from a Dragonman, then later thanks him when his crossbow fire assists her in battle. 45 46
Story Role / Major Arcs
Elpaxin Artisan Challenge
Hong Ye enters the Elpaxin Artisan Challenge as a respected Combat Artificer from Gula Port. She defeats Blood Night Demon Moon before being matched against Fang Heng. 40
Her Annihilator QV700 initially overwhelms Fang Heng's Sword Plover with aggressive magical attacks. However, Fang Heng identifies her Overload Flow setup, evades her attack patterns, and deliberately forces her to overextend the Annihilator's temperature and magic output. 41 42
Fang Heng ultimately destroys the Annihilator after using a Clockwork Sprite to distract Hong Ye at a crucial moment. Hong Ye concedes defeat, returns the Sprite, and admits that she is convinced by his skill. 42 43
Recruitment Attempt
After the match, Hong Ye asks Fang Heng whether he belongs to a major guild. Learning that he is unaffiliated, she offers to recruit him into the Taboris Oak Knights. 43
Her offer sparks an argument with Wu Di and Liuli Yue, who attempt to recruit Fang Heng for the Silverwood Spear instead. 43
Dark Dragon Incident
When the Dark Dragon attacks Dragon Horn Hall, Hong Ye joins the temporary survivor squad. She materializes another Annihilator QV700 and remains combat-capable despite the chaos. 44
Fang Heng successfully links Meimei to Hong Ye's Annihilator. Following his positional instructions, Hong Ye uses Flame Rays, shields, and later two Annihilators to fight Dragon People and the Warrior Chief. 45 46
After Tata expands the Fairy network to link the group's constructs, Hong Ye commands three Annihilators. Their sustained firepower becomes one of the group's principal defenses while escaping through the black fog. 47 48
Escape from the Inn
Hong Ye helps shield the group from attackers disguised as Jefflitte Redcoats, though Fang Heng convinces her not to waste time counterattacking while the dragon remains the greater threat. 49
When the survivors split up in the marsh, Hong Ye gives Fang Heng her communication ID and asks him to visit the Taboris Oak Knights before departing into the darkness. 50
Trivia
- Hong Ye has a high reputation among ordinary people in Gula Port. 40
- Her fighting style is strong enough that her kill rate during the escape nearly surpasses that of the rest of the team combined. 48
- She initially believes Fang Heng's claim that he can operate a Fairy Construct is an implausible excuse. 45
