As they pushed open the pub door, the warm aroma of Butterbeer washed over them.
They sat by the window, Will and Sylvia at one table and Harry's trio at another, and ordered a few Butterbeers.
Ron looked rather miserable, drinking his beer sullenly without a word.
Harry was saying something to him, but Ron only gave half-hearted replies.
"What happened?" Will looked at Hermione, asking with his eyes.
Hermione sighed and lowered her voice. "We lost the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Slytherin."
Will raised an eyebrow.
"Ron was the Keeper," Hermione continued. "He... didn't play very well."
Will glanced at Ron.
Ron seemed to have overheard their conversation, and his expression grew even gloomier.
"I didn't do it on purpose," he muttered. "That Quaffle... it was like it had a mind of its own."
Hermione patted his shoulder. "It's all right. It was only one match."
"But we lost!" Ron raised his voice a little. "And we lost badly!"
Harry tried to comfort him. "We'll win next time."
Ron said nothing, merely taking another large gulp of Butterbeer.
Will found it rather amusing—Ron was always like this, lacking confidence. Even when he was clearly doing well, his instinct was to doubt himself.
