Night fell over Hogwarts. The Hospital Wing was utterly still, with Jerry lying alone in a bed.
Jerry felt perfectly fine and had wanted to return to his Dormitory that afternoon, but Madam Pomfrey had firmly refused. He had no choice but to stay the night.
Jerry opened his right hand. Two strange spheres, each the size of a thumbnail, appeared above his palm. They gave off a soft blue-white glow in the darkened Hospital Wing, floating there like two distant stars.

Jerry stared at the spheres in disbelief, too stunned for words.
Magic was the secret within every wizard, the source of Spells, the foundation of magical civilization. He had never imagined that one day he would see that mysterious power so plainly before his eyes.

Jerry did not know whether this ability was connected to the growth of the mysterious Unknown Bloodline within him. But the instant he touched Hermione and the other students that afternoon, he had clearly sensed magic flowing throughout their bodies.
To Jerry, that magic had seemed almost within reach. He could easily move it or disrupt it. If he wanted, he could even trigger a Magical Outburst inside Hermione at any moment!
Grindelwald and Dumbledore were different. Perhaps their control over their own magic had reached a higher level, because Jerry found it difficult to interfere with its flow.
