"Good morning, everyone," Professor Lupin said gently, his gaze sweeping over their faces. "Put your textbooks back in your Schoolbags. Today's lesson will focus on practical work. You'll only need your Wands."
Once he saw that everyone was ready, Professor Lupin nodded. "Good. Follow me."
The students rose and followed Professor Lupin out of the classroom. They passed through a deserted Corridor and rounded a corner. Along the way, they spotted Peeves stuffing chewed gum into the keyhole of Filch's office. Professor Lupin frowned slightly but kept walking.
At last, they stopped outside the Staff Common Room. It was a spacious, elongated room with dark wood paneling on every wall. An assortment of rather worn chairs stood about in no particular order.
"Here we are," Professor Lupin said, motioning the students toward the far end of the room. An old wardrobe stood there, apparently where the teachers kept spare robes.
Professor Lupin stopped beside it. Just then, the wardrobe began to shake violently, banging against the wall as though something inside were struggling desperately to break free.
"No need to panic," Professor Lupin said calmly when several students recoiled. "There's a Boggart in the wardrobe."
He looked around to make sure everyone had heard him, then continued. "I know some of you may already have heard what today's lesson is about, but I'd like to go over it again."
"Boggarts favor dark, enclosed spaces," Professor Lupin explained. "They might hide in wardrobes, gaps beneath beds, or cupboards under Sinks. I've even seen one living inside an old grandfather clock. This one moved in the afternoon before last. I asked the headmaster to have the teachers leave it here for our third-years to practice on."
