"What on earth is going on?"
Inside the room, the Slytherins watched the black mist on the floor flow like a thick liquid and gradually draw closer. Cold sweat trickled down their faces as they instinctively backed away, trying to escape the approaching aura of terror, until their backs pressed against the cold, hard walls.
"That's absolutely disgusting!" Goyle frowned, staring at the black mist about to reach his feet. He crouched down, lowering his burly frame to examine the strange mist carefully, then turned to Malfoy behind him. "Hey, boss, it doesn't look like much. It just looks scary!"
Hearing Goyle's words, Malfoy and the other Slytherins privately breathed sighs of relief. They seemed to think the black mist was all show and posed no real threat.
"This stuff doesn't seem so great. Why would Jerry Green be afraid of it? He's a complete freak!" As Malfoy and Crabbe approached, Goyle muttered into Malfoy's ear. Before he had even finished speaking, he actually worked up the courage to reach out and touch the black mist.
The instant Goyle's fingers touched the mist, an icy chill swept through the entire room, and Malfoy felt a wave of malice wash over him. Then, to everyone's horror, Goyle's face, flushed with excitement a moment earlier, turned as white as paper, drained of every trace of color. He barely looked alive! Amid their screams, Goyle's body suddenly gave way, and he toppled backward with a heavy thud.
"Everyone, get away from that black mist immediately! Do not touch it!" Lupin had been watching the wardrobe anxiously. Seeing Goyle suddenly collapse, he felt a surge of panic and hurriedly shouted, "Quick, take him to the Hospital Wing!"
