Early the next morning, Goyle regained consciousness. When he saw Jerry lying in another bed in the Hospital Wing, he looked as though he had seen the plague itself. He hurried to tell Madam Pomfrey he had recovered and desperately wanted to be discharged at once.
Madam Pomfrey gave him another thorough examination. Once she was satisfied that he was sound in both body and mind, she granted his request.
Watching Goyle hastily gather his belongings and flee the Hospital Wing without looking back, Madam Pomfrey said to Jerry, "It seems you gave him quite a fright!"
Jerry merely shrugged, looking unconcerned.
Although Jerry had caused a small mishap in Defence Against the Dark Arts, it remained most students' favourite class.
Draco Malfoy and the Slytherin students who took the class with Jerry were exceptions. They did not dare blame Jerry openly, so they directed all their resentment and anger at Professor Lupin instead. They spread nasty remarks about him and even mocked his clothes.
Fortunately, no one else cared about Professor Lupin's patched, badly worn robe. It did nothing to diminish the respect his students had for him.
In the next few Defence Against the Dark Arts lessons, the Boggart did not reappear. Professor Lupin taught the students about Red Caps instead. These ugly little creatures lurked in places steeped in blood, such as Castle dungeons and the trenches of abandoned battlefields, waiting to club unwary travellers.
After finishing with Red Caps, they moved on to Kappas, the creatures known by the same name in Muggle stories. These aquatic Fantastic Beasts looked like scaly monkeys with webbed hands. They lay in wait for anyone wading through their ponds and usually strangled the swimmers they caught.
Jerry found Professor Lupin's lessons quite interesting. At least they were better than those
