Jerry bent down, picked up the badge Hermione had thrown on the floor, and returned to the Great Hall.

Hermione sat alone at the long table, as though the world around her had fallen away. Her eyes were red, and she ignored everyone who came near. Jerry gently placed the badge in front of her. She looked up and met his eyes for a moment, then silently gathered her things and returned to the Gryffindor Common Room without a word.

"Did you two have a fight as well?" Neville asked, scratching his head in confusion.

"It's nothing." Jerry pressed his lips together. "Where are Harry and Ron?"

"Harry just got a letter from Sirius. Sirius is worried about him and is on his way here!" Neville paused. "Harry's blaming himself. He thinks he shouldn't have written to Sirius about his scar hurting. If Sirius gets caught and sent back to Azkaban, Harry thinks it'll be his fault."

"Ron disagreed. He even thought Harry should tell Professor Dumbledore about the pain in his scar. They argued and went their separate ways."

Neville sighed at the empty table. Their little group of five had been laughing together only moments ago, and now he was the only one left.

Early the next morning, as the first pale light broke through the clouds, Harry slipped into the Owlery to send Sirius a reply. He wanted to tell Sirius not to worry about him, and certainly not to come to Hogwarts.

To Harry's surprise, someone else had come to send a letter so early. When he entered the Owlery, he found Jerry with a tall blonde girl he didn't recognize.

"I'll head back, then," Catherine said, her voice cool as frost. She shot Harry a cold glance before turning and leaving the Owlery.
