After trying out his new spell, Jerry glanced at his remaining draws. He had thirty left, and he immediately decided to seize this lucky moment and use them all in one go!
Draw!
"Better luck next time" "Better luck next time" "Chocolate Frog" ... "Better luck next time" "Aragog's venom (1 pint)" "Better luck next time" "Better luck next time" "Cockroach Clusters"
It's fine. This ten-pull was just a warm-up. The next one is bound to give me a gold, Jerry reassured himself.
Draw!
"Better luck next time" "Better luck next time" "Chocolate Frog" ... "Better luck next time" "Abby's Golf Club" "Better luck next time" "Better luck next time" "Wand: Ebony, 9 inches, dragon heartstring, springy"
Jerry held the Ebony wand he had just drawn from the system and gave it a casual wave. It wasn't as comfortable to use as his usual Yew Wood wand, but overall, it was pretty good.
Most importantly, this wand had no record of either manufacture or purchase.
Back in Diagon Alley, Jerry had tried to buy an extra wand, but Ollivander had refused.
In his original plan, Jerry had considered finding a way to steal a dark wizard's wand. Now, however, he no longer needed to risk his neck looking for a new one.
He planned to use the Ebony wand to complete Can't Pick Up the Light's mission. Anything drawn from the system could be placed in its storage space, so he could put the wand away there after using it.
Aurors could examine a wand to find out which spells its owner had recently cast. If anyone wanted to inspect his wand, he would only need to hand over his Yew Wood one.
After putting away the Ebony wand, Jerry took out the Golf Club. He had assumed it was just an ordinary item, but the system had a surprise for him.
Abby's Golf Club: Any creature struck by this club will enter a state of saintly compassion for the next ten hours.
Yikes! What a nasty club!
Jerry took the Stun Gun out of the system's storage space and held the Golf Club in his right hand. A bold idea suddenly came to him!
What would happen if he ambushed Quirrell with the Stun Gun, knocked him out, then whacked him in the back of the head with the Golf Club?
He could hardly imagine the scene!
There were ten draws left. Without hesitation, Jerry used them all!
"Better luck next time" "Better luck next time" ... "Better luck next time" "Better luck next time" "Better luck next time"
Staring at the results of his final ten-pull, Jerry felt a pang of dismay. He hadn't even received a snack as a consolation prize.
He braced a hand against the wall to steady himself and kept reassuring himself, It's fine, it's fine. I've already gained plenty tonight...
Fuck! (╯°Д°)╯︵ ┻━┻
The next morning, in the Charms Class classroom.
"All right, everyone, pay attention! Don't forget that delicate wrist movement we've been practicing! Swish and flick. Remember the rhythm." Professor Flitwick stood on his stack of books and spoke in his usual squeaky voice. "Swish and flick. It may look simple, but it requires precise control and practice."
He picked up a wand and began demonstrating. With a gentle swish of his wrist, the wand swept outward. Then he flicked his wrist, tracing an arc through the air.
"You must pronounce the incantation correctly, or you may get unexpected results," he warned. "Remember, never say 's' instead of 'f,' or you'll find yourselves lying on the floor with a Bison standing on your chest! So do be careful!"
Laughter filled the classroom, though a few students swallowed nervously.
After all, nobody wanted to be trampled by a Bison.
When Professor Flitwick finished speaking, he handed out a feather to each student for practice, just as usual.
All the young witches and wizards in the classroom were waving their wands and practicing, except Jerry, who was leafing through a book of advanced charms.
Professor Flitwick was already well aware of Jerry's abilities. He knew that making Jerry practice the Levitation Charm alongside these young students would be a waste of time.
So Professor Flitwick chose not to interfere, leaving Jerry to work as he pleased.
Flitwick glanced at Jerry, then at the students nearby who were still struggling with the Levitation Charm. He couldn't help reflecting that the gap between two people could sometimes be far greater than the gap between a person and a troll.
As he reflected on this, Professor Flitwick also silently cursed the Sorting Hat's foolishness. Such an outstanding student clearly belonged in Ravenclaw, not among those arrogant Slytherins.
He truly admired Jerry's talent and intelligence.
After class, Jerry packed up his things and got up to find Hermione.
"Her..."
Before Jerry could finish, Hermione hurried out of the classroom with her head lowered, clutching a stack of books.
Harry, Ron, and Neville ran over and said anxiously, "Jerry, hurry and catch up with Hermione! What we said earlier might have upset her. I just saw her secretly wiping away tears!"
Hearing that, Jerry hurried after Hermione.
Jerry strode down the corridor, looking around for Hermione.
Before long, he spotted her walking silently ahead of him on her own. Her shoulders trembled slightly; she was clearly crying.
He quickened his pace, caught up to her, and gently patted her shoulder.
Hermione looked up, her eyes red. The tears she had just managed to stop had left tracks down her cheeks.
Seeing that it was Jerry, Hermione quietly wiped the tear tracks from her face and gave him a strained smile. "I'm fine, Jerry. You don't need to worry about me."
Hermione's voice was a little hoarse, but still firm. Though she was feeling low, she didn't want Jerry to worry too much.
"Hermione, do you remember what we said on the train?"
At Jerry's words, Hermione nodded. "Of course. We're best friends."
"Don't worry, Jerry. I'm really fine. You don't need to worry. I just need some time alone."
Hearing her say that, Jerry swallowed the comforting words he had been about to offer and let her have some time alone. He understood Hermione's strength and pride, and knew she didn't need excessive comforting.
After Hermione left, Jerry headed to Hogwarts' Great Hall, which had already been decorated for Halloween.
Jerry found the Weasley Twins at the Gryffindor table. After borrowing the Marauder's Map from them, he began looking for Quirrell's location.
Tonight, Jerry was going to teach that master-and-servant pair a lesson in love.
Quirrell would release the troll tonight. Jerry planned to follow him, find an opening to ambush him with the Stun Gun, then use the Golf Club to give them both a dose of saintly compassion! Hehe!
