Jerry did not understand why Trevor Shacklebolt was so agitated, but he forced himself to stay calm. His face hardened as he played along. "Get up! Don't you know Dumbledore is watching me? A stunt like that could expose my identity!"
Trevor sprang to his feet, terror on his face. "It's my fault! I nearly ruined your plans, Your Eminence!"
Seeing Trevor's panic and hearing the reverence in his voice, Jerry suddenly realized something. He and Dumbledore had both been wrong. Perhaps the Apostles had never intended to recruit him to work for them!
Did Jerry have some other identity besides being a member of the Grindelwald family?
Jerry was growing more and more interested in the Apostles Organization!
"Take me to Catherine Fawley!"
Trevor Shacklebolt nodded at once and respectfully led him to the Private Lounge where they had met last time.
"After you, Your Eminence!"
Jerry glanced at Trevor, who stood by the door. "Wait here. No one comes in without my permission!"
"As you command, Your Eminence!"
Trevor carried out the order without the slightest objection. That loyalty and trust, that absolute obedience to his authority, gave Jerry a strange sense of satisfaction.
All right, Jerry had to admit he liked this unfamiliar feeling. He liked having control over other people's fates.
Jerry pushed open the door and found Catherine Fawley sitting on a sofa. Surprise crossed her face when she saw him, but she spoke respectfully. "Mr. Green, I didn't expect you to come by so late!"
Jerry ignored her. As he had done with Trevor, he raised his left hand to show Catherine the Ring and the markings on his wrist.
Sure enough, the moment Catherine saw them, she dropped to one knee just as Trevor had, tears of excitement filling her eyes!
