Three days later, the evening sun bathed the earth in gold.
In the guest room, Hermione lay barefoot on the bed, leafing through Lockhart's Voyages with Vampire.
"He's amazing! He isn't even afraid of Vampire!"
Jerry sat at the Table, studying the Necklace his mother had left him. At Hermione's words, he shook his head.
"Lockhart is our Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor this year. Once you've been to one of his classes, you'll realize how ridiculous that sounded!"
"Really? You're so annoying, Jerry. You always stop halfway through!" Hermione crumpled a sheet of scrap paper and threw it at him.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Some things you'll have to discover for yourself!"
The moment he finished speaking, Jerry's ebony Wand paused in his hand. No wonder that had sounded familiar. Wasn't it what Dumbledore always said to him?
"Hermione, can I borrow the tears Fawkes gave you through Professor Dumbledore?"
Jerry had been studying the Necklace for days. He had discovered that part of the runic inscription inside it was damaged, probably from saving Rosier.
The good news was that Jerry could repair it!
At Jerry's request, Hermione got off the bed, ran to her room, and brought him the bottle.
"Here!"
After handing Jerry Fawkes's tears, Hermione stood beside him and watched curiously.
Jerry gently opened the Glass Bottle and carefully tipped a single drop onto the Necklace's Pendant.
Sss! The faint hiss broke the silence. It came from the liquid touching the Pendant, like water striking hot iron. Though soft, the sound seemed to ripple through the air.
Bathed in phoenix tears, the runic inscription on the Pendant immediately glowed pale gold. The light was gentle, yet it held a warm, mysterious power. It's very much like the Patronus Charm, Jerry thought.
