Background / History

Ma Xiaotao was Yan Shaozhe's disciple and Shrek Academy's standout “monster” of her generation. She broke Shrek's record by reaching the Soul Ancestor realm at thirteen, but her advancement later became constrained by the side effects of her Phoenix Evil Fire. The fire accumulated during cultivation and battle, threatened to overwhelm her sanity, and left her dependent on external suppression. 1 57 111

Yan Shaozhe introduced Ye Chen—his newly accepted disciple with an Ultimate Ice Ice Dragon King Martial Soul—to Ma Xiaotao because Ye Chen's cold aura could suppress her Evil Fire. She immediately felt relief from merely being near him and took an active role in bringing him into Shrek Academy and looking after him. 1

During an early spar, Ma Xiaotao used her Phoenix Evil Fire against Ye Chen's Ultimate Ice. Although she restrained herself due to their large cultivation gap, the clash neutralized roughly half of her accumulated Evil Fire, establishing Ye Chen as a far more effective solution than her previous methods. 2

Her condition was permanently resolved after Ye Chen gave her the Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower. She endured the herb's intense Yang energy, expelled the Evil Fire completely, and reached rank 70. Ye Chen subsequently gave her Blazing Gel, which evolved her purified Fire Phoenix into an Ultimate Fire Phoenix. 165 166

After Zhang Lexuan became Vice Dean of the Martial Soul Department, Ma Xiaotao inherited the Inner Court Senior Disciple Sister position. Though exhausted by its administrative burdens, she was recognized as the most suitable person in the Inner Court to carry the responsibility. 300
