Jelous had arranged for all three of them to join, and after learning more about them, Ye Chuqi was quite satisfied.
The remaining candidate was Cyril. Although he had spent two or three years at the Beast Abyss Frontline, his work had primarily involved logistics. Even counting his years at school, he did not have much combat experience.
Ambrose had also asked Ye Chuqi exactly what strength she saw in Cyril. He did not believe Cyril's unusual alchemy techniques would be of much use on a trip to the Beast Abyss Frontline.
Ye Chuqi answered frankly: she wanted Cyril for his brain. An investigation required clues and analysis, and Cyril's powers of observation and imaginative thinking could keep pace with hers. At critical moments, they could produce surprising results.
Ambrose had paid attention to Cyril as well. For one thing, the young man was one of the Imperial Capital's outstanding graduates; for another, he had some connection to Ye Chuqi. Not to mention, the Special Potions he brewed really were useful. Yet Ambrose had never imagined Cyril's brain could serve this purpose too.
If Cyril returned alive from the Beast Abyss, Ambrose decided he would take a good, close look at what exactly made him special.
Cyril silently watched Ye Chuqi casually dig another pit for him to fall into. After years apart, she was still so practiced at it, and he actually felt a little nostalgic—surely his thoughts were only muddled because he had stayed up late brewing potions last night and had not gotten enough sleep?
With the farewells over, Ye Chuqi smiled at her five teammates, patted Big Black Fish beside her, and asked with an air of mystery, "Is everyone ready?"
As she spoke, Big Black Fish rolled belly-up again, excitedly indicating that he was ready.
