Dunstan turned his head and saw Ye Chuqi sitting cross-legged by the tent entrance. Soft light bathed the beautiful girl, as though she were shrouded in a sacred glow, so holy he could not look straight at her.
Had he not been lying down, he felt certain he would already have fallen to his knees.
Then he asked a very foolish question. "Are we still on the snowfield? Won't the tent get blown away? Is it sunny now?"
All right, that was three questions.
"We're still on the snowfield, the tent won't get blown away that easily, and the blizzard is still raging." Ye Chuqi patiently answered each one.
Dunstan froze for a moment. He assumed Ye Chuqi had found a quiet, safe spot where the Magic Tent could survive the blizzard by a stroke of luck. He had no idea that when Ye Chuqi had dug him out of the snow, he had barely had a breath left in him—and even that last breath had been on the verge of fading as she pulled him free.
Being buried in the snow certainly made survival difficult, but the extreme cold had also happened to preserve his last flicker of life.
Fortunately, he had encountered Ye Chuqi. Had anyone else dug him out, he might have died the instant they freed him.
