Qiao Ranran jolted awake. "Huh!?"
Pei Ling pinched her soft cheek, smiling wickedly. "Keep letting your imagination run wild, and I'll feed you to Guai Guai."
Qiao Ranran: "..." She knew who Guai Guai was now, but it still sounded so unreal.
She glanced at Guai Guai, who was scampering in circles by Pei Ling's feet. He had eaten plenty of Demon Beast meat and grown quite a bit, but he was still barely bigger than a Corgi, and his head accounted for much of that.
Of course, his mouth took up half his head even when closed, and when it split open, it was frightening. But even if Guai Guai wanted to eat her, it would take more than a bite or two. Qiao Ranran imagined it and shuddered. She sneakily tripped his stubby legs with her toe, then watched him go tumbling away.
Qiao Ranran: "..." It might have counted as bullying a child, but she truly hadn't expected such spectacular results. Short legs made rolling far too easy.
Pei Ling shot her a glance.
"I didn't mean to!" Qiao Ranran darted over to the dazed Guai Guai, scooped up the poor little thing, and hurried through a full course of Dust-Cleansing Spell, Hundred-Beast Pill, and Demon Beast meat. In a blink, he was once again an adorable little creature: well-behaved, clean, tidy, and just a bit ugly.
A familiar voice rang out without warning. "Qiao Qiao, your taste is terrible! There are so many cute little Demon Beasts you could raise, so how did you end up with one this ugly? Oh, this is too funny! Hahahaha..."
Who else in the world called her "Qiao Qiao" but Yan Qingsui? She hadn't expected him to be in Xingluo City, much less waiting near the Profound Heart Sect's quarters
