Background / History

Qiao Ranran’s Previous Life

Wen Ziheng first met Qiao Ranran on the mountain behind the Clear Feather Sect, where he approached her after seeing her speak to a Demon Beast. That meeting occurred more than a year later than their encounter in her reborn life 39.

Qiao subsequently followed Wen and became part of his circle. Wen and his companions supplied most of her cultivation resources, encouraging her to concentrate on medicine, Spell Arts, and pill refinement while they handled the dangers outside. They also usually decided whom she would treat 42 44 47.

Wen ultimately killed Qiao with a sword through her heart. Her trust was so complete that, even as she died, she wondered whether someone had disguised themselves as him. Pei accompanies Wen into the city, keeping him away from Qiao while investigating their apparent connection. Before leaving, Wen offers Qiao protective talismans; when she steps away, he places them beside a tree instead. His attempts to build rapport with Pei fare little better 40 41.

Search for a Blood Gu Cure

Wen waits at the Vast Sea Medical Hall for a reclusive Medicine Cultivator who is away gathering herbs. Hearing about his sick friend, Qiao recognizes Feng Changdong’s condition: she developed Blood Gu Reversal while treating him in her previous life. Although she wants to help Feng, she leaves rather than risk returning to Wen’s circle 42.

When Feng reports that Sword Venerable Jinglin’s son has recovered from Blood Gu, Wen abandons his wait and accompanies him to the Heavenly Evolution Sword Sect. Before departing, he leaves a message talisman at the medical hall to retain contact with its physician 44.
