Background / History
Dai Tian is the third son of Emperor Dai Yutian and Fan Caiyun, a former Blood Sect holy maiden. Born gravely frail, he survives after his father orders a blood ritual supplied first by Soul Beasts and then by soldiers and officials. Caiyun had also used the forbidden Blood Qi Embryo Nurturing art before his birth 129 130.
His soul comes from a modern Earth worker who died in a traffic accident. In the Star Luo palace, Dai Tian grows up apart from his mother, who is confined to the Cold Palace, and rarely sees his father. A wet nurse raises him. Aware of the empire’s deadly succession struggle, he spends his first six years secluded in the palace, training his body and unsuccessfully trying to activate the system that came with him 130.
Dai Yutian personally conducts his awakening in a hidden, otherworldly setting. The ceremony leaves Dai Tian unconscious, but reveals a White Tiger powerful enough to force the emperor to his knees. Dai Yutian names him crown prince; his new status also leads to Caiyun’s release from the Cold Palace. While unconscious, Dai Tian encounters the chained Divine Beast White Tiger, which recognizes his Chinese origin and urges him to grow stronger 131 132 133 134.
On waking, Dai Tian summons a smaller version of that tiger as his Martial Soul. His Fate Exchange System then activates, giving him a means to gain power by changing other people’s fates 135.

At six, Dai Tian has a composed, regal bearing, but his coloring differs sharply from the imperial family’s usual blond hair and gold-and-blue eyes 130.

He misses his parents from his former life and hopes to return to them. At the same time, the succession struggle makes strength a matter of survival.
