Qian Renxue is the daughter of Bibi Dong and Qian Xunji. Her birth followed Qian Xunji’s sexual assault and imprisonment of Bibi Dong, a history initially concealed from her. Bibi Dong’s trauma contributes to her rejection of her daughter, who nevertheless continues to seek maternal affection 34 68 70.

Her grandfather, Qian Daoliu, provides the warmth absent from that relationship. He permits her undercover mission partly to keep her away from Bibi Dong, rather than because he considers political infiltration necessary to conquer Heaven Dou.
