While the four of them were still wrestling with what to do, Su Yi's voice rang out from the company camp.
"I've made contact with the people inside!"
"The Hound Gang's hall master, Cole, is my partner! They used to rule Lal City!"
"He told me the people inside aren't dead. They've just undergone a strange mutation."
"Our former employees aren't all dead either!"
"Soon, the Goddess's light will shine through the mist over Lal City!"
"Yeah!!!"
At the sound of his voice carrying from afar, all four of them changed expression when they heard Cole's name.
Redrock asked quietly, "I remember Cole's name was on the list the Lantern Bearers gave us..."
The other three thought back carefully. Once they confirmed that Cole really was on the list, urgency showed on their faces.
Jike said, "So fire works, right? Redrock, aren't you Eternal Flame Elves best with fire?"
"We Shadow Soul Hunters are good with fire too. How about we give it a try?"
Redrock answered at once, "Works for me!"
Mokaka hurriedly said, "Don't rush into this. We—"
Redrock snorted. "It's only been half an hour since you sneaked off to exchange information with that corporate dog!"
With that, he and Jike left.
Mokaka watched them go, then turned to Maria.
Maria clearly had reservations of her own now.
"The great Eternal Scales says that betrayal weighs ten thousand times as much as sincerity. It was right."
"Priest Mokaka, what you did just now chilled me to the bone."
She turned and left as well.
After the other three had gone, Mokaka sighed. "That kid really found the sore spot."
The other three had naturally understood Su Yi's scheme when he called Mokaka out alone earlier.
That was why they had still been able to meet afterward.
