Background / History
Xiao Yue and Xu Feng were once the two most outstanding young Trainers in the Eastern Lands. Although Xiao Yue was expected to marry another man, she and Xu Feng eloped. League forces and the other man’s allies pursued them until they settled in Fengcheng during her pregnancy. The man later used Xiao Yue as a pretext for war; Xu Feng drove the invaders out and went to defend the Borderlands 145.
Xiao Yue concealed her identity and raised Xu Mu in Fengcheng. She believed revealing who she was could make him a target for assassins. Her father, Chief Xiao Yuyang, kept his distance after opposing her marriage and misjudging the conflict, though he secretly watched over her and Xu Mu 145. At home, she supported Xu Mu’s wish to travel, even as his departure moved her to tears 18.
When Owl members tried to abduct her to use against Xu Mu, Xiao Yue refused to leave because she was waiting for her son 144. After the incident, she told Xu Mu their family history, and Xiao Yuyang publicly acknowledged her as his daughter and Xu Mu as his grandson 145 146. Once reconciled with them, she set out to find Xu Feng; she and Xu Feng later visited Xu Mu together 146 430.
Appearance
Xiao Yue usually appeared to Xu Mu’s classmates to be a middle-aged woman. At home, a playful pout made her look much younger; the narration suggests that, dressed up, she could be mistaken for Xu Mu’s older sister 85.
Personality
Xiao Yue is attentive to Xu Mu without trying to hold him back. She prepares food for him, worries about his safety, and supports his travels even when letting him go is painful 7 18 70. When intruders arrive at her home, her initial panic quickly gives way to composure 144.
