The Assassin who had broken into the Dungeon was pinned beneath Howler's backside.

"His head doesn't seem to work too well."

Annan had hoped to pry something out of the Psionic Power user, but he glanced over the other prisoners in the Dungeon. Steelkin and Black Ironless acted like a pair of fools. Howler sat on the Assassin for fun, the Ogre was as courteous as a gentleman, and the Half-Blood Giant obeyed only Annan.

"Watch him. Don't let him die."

Annan gave up on questioning the assassin himself. Olmedo had no reason to throw him in here and then leave him alone. He went to the dungeon entrance and called for a guard.

"Tell Olmedo to come see me."

Annan put the authority of the King of the North into his voice.

"The city lord doesn't have time for an impostor." The guard who came over sneered and started to walk away.

Annan fixed him with his deep black eyes. "You need not go, but you had better pray I am not the true King of the North."

Panic crossed the guard's face. "I... I'll tell the city lord's guard, but whether he passes it on is none of my business..."

Hurried footsteps faded into the depths of the Dungeon. Annan stayed by the cell door, curiously feeling the iron bars. Bars as thin as branches could not hold the Ogre, much less the Half-Blood Giant... So what kept them under control?

The Assassin was still cursing the Orc sitting on him, but under the Ogre's and Half-Blood Giant's watchful eyes, he dared do nothing else.

Annan found himself strangely enjoying the feeling of a god descending to set things right.

He did not wait long before lamplight flickered across the damp brick walls.
