The shriek in her mind cut Colette off.
"You're the outsider, my lord." Colette took off her Visitor Badge and set it on the counter. "My father trusts Annan, and he's practically family to me."
The Heroic Spirit felt betrayed and tried to punish Colette with silence.
Colette ignored him and continued.
"A Heroic Spirit..." Annan exclaimed, then asked curiously, "What's a Heroic Spirit?"
"You don't even know what a Heroic Spirit is!?"
The Heroic Spirit couldn't hold back. He sprang out of the Visitor Badge. "Then why did you act so shocked?"
Annan covered his embarrassment. "A Heroic Spirit is a noble soul that's died. Everyone knows that. But there are different kinds."
"Since Colette sold me out, I won't hide it anymore. That's right, I'm a personal guard of the God of Order and a Heroic Spirit of the Guardian Church!"
"Wow..."
Annan sounded impressed, but all he could think about was how to get him working for Free City.
Then he realized he might have found a way forward with his Divinity!
Apart from the Gods themselves, who would know more about receiving believers' prayers than a Heroic Spirit?
Hiding the eagerness in his eyes, Annan held back his real question and asked, "What caused the turmoil?"

"Did the God of Order send you a Divine Oracle?"

"Did any other Bishops receive one?"

The Heroic Spirit's voice grew quieter. Faced with someone who knew nothing, Annan was polite enough not to show his disdain. He merely whispered to Colette, "Are you sure he's really a Heroic Spirit?"
