Curious passersby gathered outside the Manor, watching guards with strange weapons hold the gates. They looked familiar, though no one could quite place them.
Clad in Radiant Gleam Plate Armor and looking every bit a Holy Knight, Luoxi strode into the Banquet Hall with his personal guards. His gaze swept over the nobles, some delighted, others uneasy.
"Who is Olmedo?"
Miranda remembered the agreed-upon code and stood. "I am. And you are...?"
"The Free City Guard Legion. I'm Legion Commander Luoxi. His Majesty Annan Reeves sent me to rescue you."
"Annan... He really is Annan...?" Miranda stood frozen.
Luoxi nodded. "I've already sent word to Mond City. You should be able to go home soon."
The nobles burst into cheers, heedless of appearances. But they fell silent again when Miranda pressed him. "What about Baron Kinkelly? What about that demon?"
"He'll never hurt you again."
To the nobles, that meant Baron Kinkelly was dead. At last, they relaxed.
A commotion rose outside the Manor. People from Mond City had arrived.
"Father!"
At the sight of the middle-aged man leading them, Miranda's nose stung. She ran over and threw herself into his arms.
"Oh, my Miranda. Thank goodness you're safe..." the man said, his voice trembling with concern.
So her name isn't Olmedo?
Luoxi had wondered why someone had the same name as the Deputy City Lord. Had Lord Annan missed Olmedo so much that he'd given the wrong name in his message? Wow. There's another startling thing I've learned.
