As the Succubus Queen's laughter rang on, Biross swam out of the open-air Ceremonial Hall.
She could guess what her old friend of several hundred years found so funny: a rising star of the human faction had dared to make contact with demons and Ratfolk. What would happen if that came to light at a critical moment?
Succubi had always enjoyed leading people astray. Unlike devils, who dragged people into the Abyss to maximize their gains, succubi simply liked doing evil.
Go to Free City with Annan...
Biross returned to the Obsidian house. Though she had agreed with Lady Lilith on what to do next, she did not change her approach and seek Annan out directly. Instead, she summoned her subordinates under the pretext of discussing the Stuen Ratfolk's movements.
"The Stuen Ratfolk are expanding their territory. We may cooperate with them, but don't trust those rats. Keep a close eye on what they do..."
Tall and beautiful, Biross spoke from the head of the long table. Annan watched her with his chin propped on his hand, while Rus watched Annan in the same pose.
The other demons watched the three of them, eager for a show.
"Valgala, you're responsible for tracking their movements."
After addressing the Gargoyle Leader, Biross added, "Rus and Olmedo Just Right, stay behind."
Once the other demons had left, Biross asked, "What's been going on with you two lately, Rus?"
"Olmedo Just Right saved me," Rus said as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "I have to repay him!"
Annan turned his face away from her.
Biross looked at Annan next. He met her gaze without blinking, his eyes full of affection. "You know I'm not like other succubi. I'm devoted to one person—"
"Pfft..."
An ill-timed laugh interrupted Annan's confession.
