As Annan breathed a sigh of relief, tinged with disappointment, Biross curled her snake tail around the Happy Water on the table and drained it in one gulp.

He rallied. "You really like Happy Water?"

Annan had Head Maid Abby bring a few more glasses.

Biross did not deny it. Her snake tail set down the glass, and she spoke with the elegance of a noble lady:

"It bubbles like magma, but it's refreshingly cold—the exact opposite. It doesn't have magma's aggression, either. It's remarkable."

Annan seized on that. "The Mortal World has countless things even more remarkable than this, Biross. Why can't you enjoy them?"

Annan hoped Biross would give up on war. In her mind, though, his words translated themselves into: Take all the good things on the Main Plane, and they'll belong to the demons.

So many days had passed with little progress. Annan discreetly wiped the sweat from his brow.

Biross was much harder to win over than the incubi...

Annan had done nothing, and the incubi had won themselves over. But after spending all these days shopping, watching Magic Films, and chatting with him, the Six-Armed Snake Demon still showed no sign of taking an interest in anything.

Dunbelly came by every day to hurry Annan along, but Annan and Biross were nowhere near close enough to bare everything to each other.

If he dared take her to the Mushroom House, word would spread among the demons the next day that he was a pervert.

If nothing else worked, Annan would have to sacrifice his virtue and bind Biross to Free City by force...
