How could the Joneses' whispered conversation escape Pan Long's ears?
With his hearing, no sound within several dozen yards could escape him, even when he wasn't deliberately listening.
When he heard the Joneses suspect that he was a Demon God trapped inside the old church by an oath, a playful mood struck him, and he decided to have a little fun with them.
King Solomon was an ancient Jewish king of European legend. Supposedly, he had used powerful Magic Power to bind seventy-two Demon Gods and accomplished many great deeds with their help. It was a familiar premise in games, and Pan Long knew quite a bit about it.
So he borrowed King Solomon's name, pretended to be one of the seventy-two Demon Gods, and fooled the Joneses for a moment.
...In fact, it might not have been entirely a joke. There were few supernatural forces in this world. Even if the "seventy-two Demon Gods of Solomon" really existed, they probably wouldn't be stronger than True Person Pan, who had attained Return to the Natural State and could travel thousands of miles Riding the Wind. Those Demon Gods might have had some unusual abilities, while nearly all of his were suited to combat.
If he had lived in King Solomon's time, he might really have earned the name of Demon God.
A moment later, the Joneses hurried to catch up. They gave him awkward smiles and said nothing.
They had no idea what to say.
Faced with a Demon God straight out of myth, were they supposed to ask, "Hello, have you had breakfast?"
What if he answered, "Now that you mention it, I am feeling a little hungry. Let me have something to eat... Hmm, who's the lucky one?" What would they do then?
