Entering the underground Seal of the Gods from the ruined temple above did not mean crawling through a cave or taking a tunnel. The gods' arrangements were not that crude.
The Wild Elves' epics sang: "Bow before the gods. If they grant permission, a gate of light shall open."
But bowing alone did nothing. The key to entering the Seal of the Gods was a divine emblem.
Only by wearing one god's emblem and bowing before the matching emblem inside the temple could someone activate the gods' arrangements and open a portal to the Seal of the Gods.
In the game, this scene could only be triggered when a Holy Servant entered the temple and bowed.
Pan Long had known about the arrangement for ages, so naturally, he had come prepared.
He took out the emblem of the God of the Wilds he had prepared. He had bought it for a few Gold Pieces from a young shaman while visiting a Wild Elf tribe. It counted as a Spell item, and its effect was to help people sleep more soundly.

So the emblem had not cost much. The shaman had probably made it on a whim.
Pan Long pinned the palm-sized, circular emblem, woven from fresh bark and wolf fur and marked with a rabbit's head, to the chest of his leather armor. Then he found the altar of the God of the Wilderness in a side hall and bowed to the emblem there, of which less than a third
