Pan Long had no idea that attaining Longevity through Merit would cause such a tremendous stir.
The birth of a Demon God produced no widespread omens in heaven and earth. Only an Immortal or Buddha attaining the Dao could do that. When he had attained Longevity as the Demon-Subduing Celestial, golden light had merely enveloped him for a while.
What concerned him now was this: what power would becoming a god through Merit bring?
The answer left him a little disappointed.
The Way of Merit could also grant Longevity and draw power from the Source of the World, but that power did not manifest directly as a special ability. Instead, it became closely linked to the Elysian Pure Land beyond the lands of the Nine Provinces.
In effect, Pan Long had gained a few "permissions" in the Elysian Pure Land.
They amounted to very little: he could send people there, bring them back, extend their stay with his own Merit, and observe and study the Elysian Pure Land. That was about it.
A Dao Seeker aspiring to establish a Pure Land of his own would have been delighted with these permissions. Pan Long, though... he truly had no such plans.
Beyond that, he could directly convert his Merit power into any Buddhist School Spell he could find in the Elysian Pure Land's "archive." Compared with the Merit Mysteries he had learned before, this was far more direct and comprehensive.
He could now call himself a divine monk without the slightest exaggeration. At the very least, his supernatural abilities and Magic Power were more than sufficient.
And just as he had suspected, the Power of the World's Origin he gained through the Way of Merit could also be converted into the Demon-Subduing and Evil-Quelling Power.
