Background and history
Han Feng is the younger son of Han Ting, Dingfeng Town’s North Gate Commandant, and the younger brother of Han Shan. He grew up with Pan Long, whom he calls “Brother Long.” A year younger than his friend, Han Feng admired Pan Long throughout childhood and persuaded his initially reluctant father to let him accompany Pan Long into the Martial World at fifteen 26.
Their journey took them from the Northlands toward Yi Province. Han Feng was eager to see famous places and test himself against bandits, but encounters with the heads displayed at Jade Gate City and the King of Nine Mountains showed him how dangerous the Martial World could be. The king’s advice to train relentlessly made him more diligent in practicing his family’s arts 26 29 30 36 37.
In Yi Province, Han Feng became interested in the widowed Sun Yun after her caravan made room for him and Pan Long at an inn. When Black Wolf Stronghold abducted her, the two friends infiltrated it to rescue her. Han Feng helped scout and clear the stronghold, though a sorcerer’s spell briefly incapacitated him 78 79 82 83. During their subsequent flight, He Tiankui ambushed the group. Han Feng feigned unconsciousness and stabbed him, but received a mortal blow in return 86.
Han Feng was later revived through Bi Lingkong’s intervention. On the journey home, he recovered physically but could no longer remember the battles and adventures of his travels. He retained his identity, martial-arts knowledge, and memories of the sights and food along the way. Pan Long supplied a gentler account of the missing years rather than tell him what had happened 300 301.
Appearance
Han Feng had a boyish face when he first set out, despite his efforts to look like a seasoned warrior in polished armor 26.
- Youthful appearance — He remains physically youthful after taking a Beauty-Preserving Pill 300.
- Traveling outfit — At the start of his journey, he wore fine armor and carried a long spear, curved saber, and stiff bow 26.
Personality
Han Feng is enthusiastic, outspoken, and quick to imagine adventure. He protests when a caravan pays bandits instead of fighting them, delights in sightseeing, and embellishes stories of his own martial exploits. His excitement can outrun his experience, but he also learns from people he respects: after hearing the King of Nine Mountains describe the path to strength, he trains more seriously 28 32 37 86.
He is loyal to Pan Long without demanding access to his friend’s secrets. At Black Wolf Stronghold, he accepts Pan Long’s unexplained methods and follows his rescue plan despite its risks. After his revival, his missing memories do not diminish his affection for Pan Long or his eagerness to imagine what they did together 82 83 300.
