Boom—
Explosions flashed without pause, their thunderous roar unending.
After several battles against Evil Gods, humanity had developed a tactic it could use against them: unleash overwhelming firepower.
They knew that any human, even a champion soldier who could win every kind of contest and had mastered every fighting technique, was fragile before Evil Gods and Demons. Only weapons with tremendous destructive power could hurt them.
Of course, they also knew this tactic worked only against Demonic Beasts like Byakhee, Ghouls, and Deep Ones, and would barely help against truly ancient Evil Gods.
But famous as the Demonic Beasts before them were, experts and scholars had concluded from their research that their standing and strength in Greek Mythology were probably comparable to those of Deep Ones and Byakhee in the Cthulhu Mythos.
Their reasoning was simple. Across the myths—in the Metamorphoses, The Iliad, and the Theogony—these seemingly formidable Demonic Beasts had all ultimately died at the hands of human heroes.
If ancient human heroes could do it, why couldn't modern human armies?
Boom!
Boom!!
Planes streaked across the sky, dropping bomb after bomb. Clouds of fire billowed upward, and smoke engulfed the Demonic Beasts, hiding them from human sight.
Some Demonic Beasts were hurled into the air by the blasts. Others braced themselves against the barrage.
Drones filmed the scene and relayed it to the Presidential Palace, where the assembled experts and professors erupted with excitement.
"It's working! It really is!"
"These Magic Beasts really are just like the Deep One and Byakhee of the Cthulhu Mythos—they can be killed by physical means!"
"Hit them harder! Bring in every military asset we've got!"
"What about ship-launched Missiles? I say fire them. Forget the cost and any consequences for now—wipe out those Demons first!"
