The moment Yemon and Jacob heard the name, they both stepped back. They stared at Andre in horror.
Ubbo-Sathla was an Outer God of the Cthulhu Mythos. Legend held that it was the first Great Old One to reach Blue Star, arriving long before the evil god Cthulhu Fhtagn. It was the mother of all life, from beginning to end.
And now Andre was calling that terrifying Outer God his heavenly father and Creator...
Andre, seated in his chair, seemed oblivious to the looks on their faces. He said solemnly, "My lord Ubbo-Sathla is the source of all sources, the ancestor of all ancestors..."
"My lord Ubbo-Sathla is the great Creator who came to Blue Star from beyond the stars. He brought the first seeds of life. He made life sprout on Blue Star and brought about the Cambrian Period's explosion of species..."
"When his amorphous body flows like waves, it is the most beautiful sight in the world; when his pseudopods sway through the air, it is the most graceful dance in the world; his dry, rasping voice is the sweetest music in the world..."
Andre launched into an impassioned hymn to Ubbo-Sathla, praising him in grotesque terms. He grew more excited as he went, until he stood with his eyes closed, traced incomprehensible gestures before his chest, and cried out in fervent praise:
"Ubbo-Sathla, our father in heaven, omnipotent Creator of all life..."
"I praise you. May you appear before us. May we return to your embrace and feel once more the warmth of life's beginning."
