Graycastle had been founded in the Second Era. From the beginning, it had been known as the Main Plane's library. With nearly two hundred million books in its collection, it had become an Ocean of knowledge.
Countless races and Professionals had visited Graycastle, including schemers and evildoers. But the God of Knowledge had always remained neutral and strongly favored the spread of knowledge. Under his influence, Scholars likewise remained neutral and bore no aversion to evil. Even chaotic Demons and evil Devils could find the knowledge they sought here.
And today, Graycastle welcomed visitors once more.
Battlefield Master Fulgres and Inquisitor Wilmot crossed through space and landed on gray-black earth. Both folded away their white wings and gazed at the grandest library on the Main Plane.
Inquisitor Wilmot's eyes filled with disgust. "A stronghold of heretical Faith."
To him, the vast, ancient city was saturated with the Divine Power of heretical gods.
The Paladin's Heart within him stirred at the presence of heretical power, urging him to destroy the wicked heretics at once.
Battlefield Master Fulgres was not as extreme as Wilmot. The Main Plane was home to many gods, and the Lord of Dawn had never proclaimed himself the only Uniqueness True God. Fulgres therefore had no prejudice against worship of gods who were not Evil Gods. He said with a chuckle:
"An unknown madness is corrupting Knowledge and Writing. My lord suspects that the God of Knowledge, who rules over 'Knowledge' and 'Writing,' has Corruption. If he truly has, Graycastle should be the first place to show signs of it. We might discover something if we go inside and investigate."
Wilmot nodded in agreement. "Let's go in."
Fulgres chuckled and entered the quiet city with Wilmot. It looked more like a library than a city.
