Power Progression

| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| False God / demigod | 1 17 | Can occupy an Authority by “playing the part.” The primitive tribe’s Sun God formed from faith and blood sacrifices but had no Divine Kingdom 1 17. |
| True God, Divine Rank 1–4 | 17 133 | Mastery of an Authority requires the world’s recognition; ranks 1–4 are classified as minor divine power 17 45 133. |

| Divine Rank 10–14 | 133 | Intermediate divine power 133. |

| Divine Rank 20 | 133 492 | The rank of a “God above Gods.” It had never appeared when the hierarchy was explained; Jiang Hao later says he is preparing to advance, but the cited scene does not show him reaching it 133 492. |
Background and Nature
Gods arise in different ways. Faith and blood sacrifices nurtured the primitive tribe’s Sun God over thousands of years, while Jiang Hao later became a True God by mastering the Agriculture Portfolio. The Dream God, by contrast, was born from dreams already possessing divine Authority and had no mortal Class Levels 1 197 506.
Authority determines the upper limit of a god’s Divine Rank, while faith supplies Divine Power. Two demigods may temporarily occupy the same Authority, but once one masters it and ascends, the others lose their claim. A god’s fall can sever priests’ access to Divine Spells and class levels; a fallen god may nevertheless have a chance to return from the Astral Plane 17 133 303.
Abilities & Limits
Authority
An Authority gives a god power over a particular domain. The Agriculture Portfolio, for example, lets Jiang Hao make crops flourish or fail across planes 198.
- Authorities can overlap or oppose one another; a strong opposing Authority may suppress another’s power 71 494.
- A claim to Authority can provoke conflict with other gods or demigods seeking the same domain 17 197.
Faith and Divine Spells
Gods convert believers’ faith into Divine Power and can send that power to their clergy 171 198.
- Priests can use a god’s Divine Power to cast spells associated with that deity 198 291.
- If contact with their god is lost, clergy may lose their spells and class levels 133 365.
- Faith can carry believers’ expectations and desires; drawing it directly into one’s body risks erosion of identity 286 303.
Divine Kingdoms
A True God can dwell in a Divine Kingdom, where its rules favor the kingdom’s master 197 502.
- A kingdom can shelter the souls of deceased followers 197.
- Gods can act through avatars or Divine Descent, but the Main Plane suppresses descended gods and makes sustained descent costly 186 300.
Divine Nature
Ascension granted Jiang Hao immortality, awareness when his name is spoken, and immunity to attacks of Legendary rank or below, curses, and instant-death magic 198.
- Divine power is not without limits: the Fate Tablet temporarily forbade the Dream God from using his Divine Power, leaving him unable to fight until that restriction was broken 506.
