Peach sat atop the wall, perfectly upright and motionless, her little head lowered as she watched below like a camera.
The little girl was frantically tidying the yard.
The yard hadn't been swept since her sister left. It was autumn turning to winter, and every flower in the yard was shedding leaves. They had piled up everywhere, some wedged into the cracks between the stone slabs, where they were hardest to sweep out.
The trash hadn't been taken out for days, the floor hadn't been mopped in a week, the stairs hadn't been swept, and the living room was a mess.
It all had to be cleaned up today...
The real work had begun.
Peach watched intently from the wall.
With a click, the wooden bolt on the courtyard gate slid left.
The gate swung open, revealing three figures.
The little girl sat on a stone stool in the yard, her back against the stone table, legs stretched out and crossed, her whole body sprawled straight. She glanced at them, looking utterly at ease.
"Xiaoxiao."
"Hey, Xiaoxiao!"
The little girl sprang to her feet.
"Brother-in-law!"
A white blur was even faster, streaking toward the three of them.
The little girl headed toward her brother-in-law and the other two, but immediately spotted his torn clothes and the wound beneath. She froze, then her pale brows drew together.
"Brother-in-law, how did you get hurt?"
"Too handsome. People got jealous."
Chen Shu waved it off, clearly unconcerned. He looked around and couldn't help praising her. "You've cleaned the place up nicely!"
"It's always this clean!"
"Woof~~"
"She says you only just cleaned it," her sister said.
"..."
The little girl fell silent for a moment and decided she hadn't heard that. She kept her eyes on Chen Shu. "Brother-in-law, what really happened?"
