Lu Mingfei charged. His Golden Eyes churned and burned like lava deep within their sockets. Fine scales began to spread across his exposed skin, and his hands sharpened into claws.
He was turning into a dragon!
On both sides of the overpass, the monsters lurking in the darkness wailed. They felt the suppression of his bloodline—the bloodline of a supreme king!
Yet they charged anyway. They had no reason left, but instinct told them that attacking this boy meant certain death. They could not defy their king's command. They could not defy Odin!
In the blink of an eye, the monsters had attacked again and again. Blade and claw crossed, dark red blood sprayed everywhere, and the streams running across the road slowly changed color.
Blood streaked Lu Mingfei's face. His Golden Eyes burned brighter as he fixed them on Odin and pressed forward without hesitation!
The Deadpools could not stop him. No matter how powerful they were or how far their dragon transformation had progressed, none could withstand a single stroke of his blade. Lu Mingfei drew ever closer to Odin, leaving a road strewn with monster corpses behind him.
How could such puny monsters stop an Emperor Weapon? Not even a sealed one!
Lu Mingfei felt power coursing through every part of him. He stared at the figure at the end of the road who called himself a god. Today, he would slay a god!
Lu Mingfei reached the Eight-Legged Pegasus and looked up at the figure looming above him like a deity. He smiled—a savage, terrifying smile, reckless and arrogant!
Meng Chuan had once purged the bloodlust from his dragon blood, but when that blood boiled, it still changed Lu Mingfei!
"A god? You're just a coward hiding behind a mask, too scared to show your face!"
Lu Mingfei leaped. Everyone watched his figure without blinking.
"This was not supposed to happen yet." Odin gazed at the boy in the air. His voice boomed like thunder, as though the heavens themselves were enraged.
"Do I need to pick a date to kill you? Want me to find an auspicious day?!" Lu Mingfei brought his long blade down. A single streak of light split the night like heaven and earth being cleaved apart, and the pitch-black, rain-soaked sky suddenly blazed bright!
"How could you possibly be my match at this point? You're seeking your own death!" Odin's voice echoed across the overpass. He did not regard Lu Mingfei as an opponent at all.
"Then do you know what I'm holding, you bastard? An Emperor Weapon!" Lu Mingfei roared.
Clang!
The long blade struck Gungnir with a clear ring. Even the rain paused for an instant, as though time itself had stopped!
Splash!
The wild rain resumed its downpour. Lu Mingfei stared at the mask inches from his face, his expression grave and his gaze sharp.
He struck again and again. Countless blade shadows swept toward Odin, every cut aimed at a vital point, ruthless and brimming with killing intent.
Caught off guard, Odin was thrown from his mount! Lu Mingfei lunged after him, giving him no chance to recover. He had never fought so fiercely. Suddenly, he felt that the battlefield was where he belonged—the battlefield where dragons were slain!
Damn, this Emperor Weapon is fierce. It lets me beat Odin into the ground, even after a Great Emperor sealed it. Lu Mingfei still had the leisure to think about such things while attacking Odin. Clearly, he had room to spare.
Odin had fallen completely onto the defensive. First he had been knocked from his horse; now he was retreating step by step, utterly suppressed by Lu Mingfei!
"That's more like it! With power like that, if he still cowered, how would he be any different from the good-for-nothing he used to be?" Meng Chuan watched Lu Mingfei fight and said approvingly, "A man ought to be tempered like this!"
"That spear is a loophole in the rules of the world." Lu Mingze watched the two distant figures locked in combat and spoke softly. Then he smiled. "Good thing he has the Great Emperor's Emperor Weapon."
"Isn't our classmate Lu a loophole in the rules of the world too?" Meng Chuan said. He watched the majestic, ruthless, terrifying boy and smiled. To Lu Mingze, there was something unfathomable about that smile.
As for the Emperor Weapon? Heh...
The rain fell harder, and the battle grew fiercer. The two figures roared at each other. Odin had long since lost his initial contempt for Lu Mingfei; his lone eye now blazed with malice.
"Kid, what do you think? Who's going to win?" Meng Chuan suddenly turned to Lu Mingze and asked.
Lu Mingze froze for a moment. Realizing Meng Chuan was speaking to him, he quickly put on a smile. "Without the Great Emperor's Emperor Weapon, Odin would win. My brother is strong now, but he still isn't a match for someone at this level. With it, though, things are different."
"You've got a good eye!" Meng Chuan said.
Hiss!
The sound of fire meeting water came from the battlefield. Mist billowed up and enveloped the two figures.
Flames were rising within it!
"Was that Royal Flame?" Meng Chuan asked, watching the scene.
"That's right. A danger-class Word Spirit, Royal Flame. I didn't expect my brother to have come this far." Lu Mingze nodded, confirming Meng Chuan's guess.
Lu Mingfei had used a Word Spirit. He could now use every ordinary and danger-class Word Spirit; his bloodline was still growing stronger.
But when he saw that Odin was unharmed, Lu Mingfei smiled.
Just as I thought. A Word Spirit of this level does nothing in a battle like this, does it? Though he framed it as a question, Lu Mingfei already knew the answer. But what did it matter if Word Spirits were useless? With an Emperor Weapon in hand, the whole world was his!
"You're strong. I've decided to use a move I just figured out against you. And dying to an Emperor Weapon? You should count yourself lucky!" Lu Mingfei rolled his neck and stared at Odin. His Golden Eyes suddenly burst with blinding light.
A dragon's roar rang across the battlefield, piercing through time as though it had come from the primordial age!
Word Spirit: Emperor!
Lu Mingfei's body swelled and changed shape. Sharp bone spikes jutted from its surface, black scales locked together with a resounding clatter, and enormous black wings spread wide. At that moment, the raging rain surged upward into the sky!
The being that could now truly be called a dragon looked at Odin and spoke slowly, each word ancient and imposing. "Round two begins!"
Word Spirit: Emperor was the Black Emperor's exclusive Word Spirit. In the battle just now, Lu Mingfei had developed a new way to use it, one without such severe side effects!
Odin stared at Lu Mingfei. His golden eye began to churn like lava, and violent currents swirled around him, blasting the rain aside!
An empty space opened around the two of them, clear of rain!
The Eight-Legged Pegasus neighed and charged at Lu Mingfei with its godlike rider, intent on trampling him beneath its hooves.
Boom!
A violent impact rang out. Lu Mingfei staggered back several steps, his black wings scraping the ground and sending endless sparks flying.
On the other side, there was a thunderous crash as the Eight-Legged Pegasus collapsed!
"Beautiful!" Lu Mingze shouted, cheering Lu Mingfei on.
In Lu Mingfei's hand, now more claw than hand, was a beating heart. It was purple-blue and covered in scales—the Eight-Legged Pegasus's heart. Lu Mingfei had ripped it out during their collision!
"I've had enough of looking at you." Lu Mingfei glanced at the fallen pegasus and crushed the Eight-Legged Pegasus Heart in his hand with a pop.
"I admit I underestimated you. You've succeeded in angering me, and you will pay for it with your life!"
Odin watched, his voice icy. The iron mask concealed his expression, but the wind raging ever more fiercely around them showed that the pegasus's master was far from calm.
An even fiercer, more savage battle began. Beyond the clash of blade and spear, both fighters' claws and spikes—and even Lu Mingfei's teeth—left countless wounds on the other!
The frenzied rain fell harder, sometimes flying back into the sky, sometimes scattering in every direction.
Crack!
The Emperor Weapon in Lu Mingfei's hand struck Gungnir again, and something snapped. Lu Mingfei grinned savagely at Odin.
Odin retreated. Lu Mingfei had driven him back yet again! In his second stage, Lu Mingfei's strength had risen to a terrifying level!
"Haha! Your spear broke, didn't it? Some 'spear that never misses,' trying to clash with an Emperor Weapon—"
Lu Mingfei's voice dwindled, then died altogether. He stared at where the weapons met. It was not Gungnir that had broken. It was the "Emperor Weapon" Meng Chuan had given him!
"Huh? My... my Emperor Weapon broke?" Lu Mingfei stammered. He stared at the weapon, now snapped in two, his mouth hanging open as though he had gone stupid.
Odin glared at Lu Mingfei, fury blazing in his lone eye. Caught off guard, he had spent the whole fight being beaten back. Now even his horse was dead!
At your peak, I was no match for you. But can I not even kill you as you are now? You wield some strange alchemical blade, call it an Emperor Weapon, and think you can kill me?
"Die!"
Odin's voice rang out like thunder. Radiating killing intent, he charged at Lu Mingfei, determined to kill him outright!
Lu Mingfei threw away the "Emperor Weapon" and faced the oncoming Odin with a grave expression, bracing himself. It looked as though he meant to withstand Odin's attack head-on!
When Odin closed to less than a hundred meters, Lu Mingfei took a step forward, his face tense, and roared indignantly, "Big bro, save me!" The next instant, he wheeled around like a lightning-swift dragon and fled behind Meng Chuan. From there, he even raised a straight middle finger at Odin.
Even Meng Chuan was so startled by Lu Mingfei's "cicada shedding its shell" trick that his divine sense trembled. He nearly blurted out, "Shameless."
Odin was livid. He was a Dragon King, not some ancient relic. He understood modern society too!
"You think hiding behind those two will save your life?" Odin's voice was icy. "One is a shadow of his former self, practically crippled. The other is impossible to read."
"But so what? Just because I can't read him doesn't mean I can't kill him!"
