Diana Prince stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, clutching a cup of tea that had gone cold. On the coffee table behind her, her phone screen glowed as it automatically refreshed the replay of The Boys' launch press conference.
She had left Themyscira to investigate Yongye. Her mother, Queen Hippolyta, had given her clear orders:
"Find out where he came from, what he's hiding, and who stands behind him. If he's Darkseid's lackey, kill him."
But something Yongye had said at the press conference had caught her attention.
"The Seven still has two openings."
Diana stared at the golden figure on the screen, complicated emotions stirring in her pale blue eyes.
She had planned to confront him directly, challenge him, and force him to show his hand. But she had canceled their meeting on Mount Everest herself. She was afraid of losing—and even more afraid of having to honor the condition that bastard had set.
Lose the fight, and she would have to sleep with him.
The thought of that wager made her grind her teeth.
Now, though, a better opportunity had presented itself.
She could join The Boys and stay by his side with every right to be there. She could watch his every move, discover what he was hiding, find his weakness, and complete the mission her mother and Zeus had given her.
It was far safer than challenging him, and far more effective.
She set the cold tea on the windowsill, picked up her phone, found the Eye Society headquarters' official contact channel, and sent a brief message from an encrypted number.
"Wonder Woman, Diana Prince. I'm applying to join The Boys. Please arrange a meeting."
After sending it, she stood at the window and stared at the Manhattan
