Background / History

After Evil Soul Masters killed Gao Ren’s parents, Gao Wei took in his nephew while he was still an infant. He and his wife, Lu Xiaoxiao, raised Gao Ren at Shrek Academy 1 3. At Gao Ren’s Martial Soul Awakening, Gao Wei recognized that his nephew’s ability to create real food without a Soul Ring was unusual for a food-type Soul Master. He later suggested that Gao Ren’s enormous wine vat, weightless while Gao Ren held it, could be used to surprise an opponent 1 2.

Gao Wei supported Gao Ren’s apprenticeship under Xuan Zi and helped turn his Overlord Drumsticks into a cafeteria business. He arranged for the cafeteria to sell them while keeping ten Gold Soul Coins from each sale 2 7. He also joined Xuan Zi in tasting Gao Ren’s wine, only to pass out before lunch; the wine proved strong enough to incapacitate Xuan Zi as well 5.

Personality

Gao Wei is proud of Gao Ren and quick to recognize the value of his abilities. He encourages the apprenticeship with Xuan Zi, praises Gao Ren’s first Soul Skill, and personally watches the serving window on his nephew’s first day selling drumsticks 2 5 8. As head chef, he is also firm about the cafeteria’s share of sales, challenging Gao Ren to sell outside the academy if he dislikes the arrangement 7 9.
