Background / History

Before the Sky Screen appeared, the outside world regarded Xuan Zi as Shrek Academy’s strongest member, while the injured Mu En remained its hidden trump card. Zhang Peng publicly accuses Xuan Zi of losing the strongest generation of the Shrek Seven Devils under his protection, claiming that more Shrek elites died on his watch than at the hands of Evil Soul Masters 3 4.

Mu En later entrusts Shrek’s future protection to Xuan Zi, warning that the exposure of powerful Holy Spirit Cult figures could provoke retaliation after his death 14.

He threatens critics, initially labels the unexplained Sky Screen an Evil Soul Master trick, and attempts to attack it before Mu En intervenes. His respect for Mu En can restrain him, but he still dismisses the elder’s warnings about the Spirit Hall Empire 3 7.

His confidence rests heavily on Shrek’s ten-thousand-year history and Tang San’s protection. He dismisses Soul Tools as external objects inferior to long cultivation and calls Shrek the only institution capable of teaching Ultimate Martial Soul users. Privately, he hopes to bring the Purple Radiance Sect’s thousand-plus disciples under Shrek’s influence 7 12 13.

The Sky Screen condemns his laziness and gluttony for limiting his Martial Soul’s potential. Xuan Zi introduces himself through the Sky Screen as a Level 98 Super Douluo and Inspection Corps commander, immediately accusing its creator of being an Evil Soul Master. Zhang Peng and Jing Hongchen provoke him into attempting to strike the screen, but Mu En stops him. Xuan Zi subsequently helps identify a possible connection between the newly revealed Spirit Hall Empire and the ancient Spirit Hall 3 4.

When discussion exposes Douluo Continent’s technological weakness, he calls Shrek’s Soul Tool Department a waste of resources. Xian Lin’er counters that its funding is only a fraction of the Martial Soul Department’s budget 5.

Provocation of the Spirit Hall Empire

Xuan Zi denounces the Phoenix God as an evil god and declares faith in the Sea God the only true path. He dismisses Feng Ji ge’s threats because the continents are far apart and refuses to believe reports of world-destroying Soul Tools. His insults prompt Feng Ji ge to authorize a military campaign and ask the Battle Saint Ape to punish him en route to the Star Dou Great Forest 7 8.

Martial Soul Ranking and Recruitment Attempt

The Sky Screen ranks his Godly Taotie Bull tenth, criticizes his neglected potential, and renames him Chicken Leg Douluo. He reacts furiously to the resulting ridicule 10 11.

After learning that the Purple Radiance Sect has over a thousand Ultimate Martial Soul disciples, he invites its youngsters to Shrek, claiming that only Shrek can properly teach them. Defeat at Shrek City

Xu Yi’s broadcast of an invasion fleet shakes Xuan Zi’s confidence. Nevertheless, he angrily confronts the Battle Saint Ape at Shrek City’s eastern gate and is blown headfirst into the ground by a single breath 14 15.

The ape then punches him through the city wall. Xuan Zi retaliates with Taotie Avatar and Power of the Earth, but one staff strike destroys both defenses and demolishes the eastern gate and part of the wall. The ape suspends him from the ruins and has three summoned monkeys strip and beat him before the Sky Screen’s audience. Mu En secures his release by apologizing for his insults 16 17.

Evacuation Crisis

Still injured, Xuan Zi initially questions Mu En’s order to evacuate Shrek, insisting that Tang San can defeat Spirit Hall again. Mu En reveals that the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud has stopped working and orders him to notify Yan Shaozhe and the others to evacuate both courts’ students. The recording of Xuan Zi’s punishment also reaches the Douluo God Realm 20.
