Background / History
Xiao Wu is a hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Rabbit living in human form. She conceals that identity while attending Shrek, though her familiarity with the Star Dou Great Forest and emotional response to the Titan Giant Ape hint at her origins. Bai Jin recognizes that she is hiding something and deliberately avoids exposing her 16 17 20 116.
Tang San describes her as his sister and the companion he grew up with. Her attachment to him also allows her to claim the Lovesick Heartbreak Red: she thinks of the times he has stood between her and danger, and the flower releases itself from its stone 63 116.
Her mother remains a source of grief. Canghui Academy’s illusion shows Xiao Wu her mother waiting beneath a tree, immediately bringing her to tears. Later, Xiao Wu makes clear that Spirit Hall’s reforms cannot make her forgive what happened to her mother 83 188.
Appearance
- Pink clothing: She is repeatedly identified as the girl in pink; during the forest pursuit, the hunters’ Poison Net grazes her skirt 69 139.
- Scorpion braid: Her long braid is both a distinguishing feature and a combat tool, used to catch opponents’ arms and wrists 81 139.
- Rabbit ears: Rabbit ears emerge from her hair when she detects Tang San approaching the forest’s central lake 181.
- Rabbit form after sacrifice: She becomes a sleeping Soft Bone Rabbit held and protected by Tang San 141 142.
- Sacrifice marking: A red Soft Bone Rabbit marking appears on her forehead immediately before she begins sacrificing herself 140.
Personality
Xiao Wu is outspoken, playful, and quick to challenge people who irritate her. She argues with Bai Jin at their first meeting, trades threats and jokes with him during the Thunder Academy match, and reacts possessively when Huo Wu repeatedly seeks Tang San’s attention 3 76 91.
Her protectiveness can override caution. When she learns that someone wants Tang San dead, she insists on joining the investigation; Bai Jin refuses because she is too emotionally worked up. At Papal Hall, she will not escape without Tang San, and in the forest she ultimately chooses sacrifice rather than watch him die protecting her 10 116 140.
Her compassion extends beyond her companions. She risks herself to rescue trafficked children, knows how to comfort a frightened girl, and protects injured Soft Bone Rabbits while being pursued. She is also capable of a painful, decisive judgment: after recognizing that the corrupted Hollow Ghost Vine cannot be saved, she chooses to end its suffering and prevent further deaths 50 53 139 187.
Abilities & Skills
Waist Bow
Her First Soul Skill turns flexibility, leverage, and bodily momentum into powerful throws 183.
- Throws an attacker from the Ghost Carriage while she holds a rescued child 50.
- Uses Huyan Li’s own weight to expose a weak point in Elephant Armor Academy’s defense 81.
- Defeats Lei Tian and Lei Dong through close-range throws rather than attempting to match their lightning attacks directly 91.
- Sends a rock-armored Soul Saint crashing through two trees during the forest pursuit 139.
Teleportation
Xiao Wu uses Teleportation to reposition abruptly, bypass obstacles, and enter an opponent’s vulnerable range 91 108 183.
- Repeatedly intercepts attackers approaching Ning Rongrong during the canyon ambush 95.
- Appears behind Godwind’s fire-type support fighter and removes them from the power-transfer formation 108.
- Slips between Wind Blades while escaping the Soul Hunting Team 139.
- Sabotages the Soul-Locking Net’s supports while avoiding Salas’s direct attacks 183.
- Sustained fighting taxes her reserves; after defeating Lei Dong, she withdraws, with Dai Mubai joking that she has run out of Soul Power 91.
Close-Combat Technique and Battle Awareness
Her fighting style combines kicks, knee strikes, grappling, braid restraints, and rapid changes of direction 49 69 139.
- Uses her scorpion braid to seize an airborne attacker’s wrist, reach his shoulder, and knock him unconscious with a knee strike 139.
- Applies Bai Jin’s instruction to watch an opponent’s shoulders, waist, and gaze rather than the lightning itself 91.
- Coordinates almost instinctively with Tang San’s vines and hidden weapons, even after years apart 187.
- Protects Shrek’s support fighters alongside Zhu Zhuqing 110.
Soul Beast Nature
Her transformed Soul Beast identity gives her abilities and vulnerabilities distinct from those of human Soul Masters 116 188.
- Can continue forming her own Soul Rings through cultivation 188.
- Extends her Soft Bone Rabbit aura into the Hollow Ghost Vine and recognizes its blood-saturated, indiscriminately hungry state 187.
- Her exposed hundred-thousand-year aura makes her a target for hunters seeking a Soul Ring and Soul Bone 115 116.
Hundred-Thousand-Year Sacrifice
Xiao Wu sacrifices herself to save Tang San when he is gravely wounded inside the Two Extremes Stillness Domain 140 141.
- Her sacrifice light passes through the domain’s restraint and surrounds Tang San 140.
- Gives him a hundred-thousand-year red Soul Ring and Right Arm Soul Bone, raising him to Level 66 141 145.
- Once initiated, the sacrifice cannot be undone by Bai Jin’s healing; he can only preserve a remaining thread of her life 140 141.
- Restoring her requires medicinal treatment and the return of the sacrificed Soul Ring and Soul Bone 147 237 238.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Lovesick Heartbreak Red — Claimed through her sincere feelings for Tang San and kept rather than eaten. It conceals her Soul Beast aura until it falls from her torn clothing after the championship. Its remaining medicinal power later helps preserve her life after sacrifice 63 115 142.
- Scorpion braid — Used as a flexible restraint during grappling and aerial counters 81 139.
- Hundred-thousand-year Right Arm Soul Bone — Given to Tang San during her sacrifice. Its return restores the flow of dormant life force through her arm, shoulder, and back 141 238.
Relationships
- Tang San — Childhood companion and sworn-sibling figure whom she calls “Brother.” Their mutual devotion drives both her sacrifice and his willingness to surrender his strength to restore her 15 116 140 147 238.
- Bai Jin — Demanding mentor and protector. Their relationship includes frequent arguments and teasing, but he preserves her secret, opposes the hunt, saves her remaining life, and helps obtain her resurrection medicines 3 17 91 139 141 231 236.
- Er Ming / Titan Giant Ape — Close forest companion who calls her “Sister Xiao Wu.” He struggles to reach her during the sacrifice and repeatedly protects her afterward 140 143 146 188.
- Da Ming / Sky Azure Bull Python — Protective forest companion. He opposes her leaving alone during the encirclement, later supports her voyage, and asks her to send a letter every three months 181 188.
- Ning Rongrong — Teammate and close friend whose timely boosts support Xiao Wu in combat. She embraces Xiao Wu at their forest reunion and helps prepare and protect the resurrection procedure 5 181 183 237 238.
- Zhu Zhuqing — Trusted combat partner, especially when defending the rear and protecting Ning Rongrong 110.
- Huo Wu — Tournament rival whose attention to Tang San provokes Xiao Wu’s jealousy; Xiao Wu glares at her after Tang San is injured protecting her 76 92.
- Qian Renxue — A Spirit Hall representative Xiao Wu has reason to distrust. Qian Renxue halts the hunt, offers help finding medicine, and later acknowledges institutional responsibility without demanding forgiveness 142 188.
- Bibi Dong, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei — Central figures in the pursuit of her hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring and Soul Bone. Bibi Dong orders her capture; the two elders lead the later hunt that culminates in her sacrifice 116 139 140.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Shrek Training and Captive Rescues
Bai Jin’s mixed-team drills expose the gap between Xiao Wu’s speed and her awareness. After nearly being hit by an unexpected pebble, she becomes more cautious and uses Ning Rongrong’s strength boost to disarm the Spirit Hall archer 5.
She becomes a frequent rescuer during the Ghost Face Society investigation. At Setting Sun Wharf she frees captives; at Blackstone Crossing she shields a trafficked girl and reaches Level 33; at the Great Soul Arena she saves spectators and reaches Level 34 47 50 69.
Elite Tournament and Identity Exposure
Xiao Wu helps dismantle Elephant Armor Academy’s formation, disrupts Godwind’s power-transfer formation, and guards Shrek’s support fighters against Spirit Hall Academy. She also contributes her Soft Bone Soul Power to the Seven-in-One Fusion Method that empowers Tang San 81 108 110 111.
Shrek wins the championship, but the Lovesick Heartbreak Red falls from her torn clothing afterward. Yue Guan identifies her as a transformed hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast, and Bibi Dong orders her seized. Tang San and the exhausted Shrek team close ranks around her; Bai Jin blocks the elders until Tang Hao arrives and carries Tang San and Xiao Wu away 114 115 116 117.
Return to the Forest and Sacrifice
After escaping Spirit City, Xiao Wu returns to the Star Dou Great Forest. She remains absent from Shrek’s five-year reunion, with Tang San promising to bring her back 124 128.
When Spirit Hall launches another hunt, Tang San and Bai Jin find her wounded and poisoned while protecting an injured rabbit. She immediately warns Tang San that Da Ming and Er Ming are also in danger 138 139.
Inside Yue Guan and Gui Mei’s Two Extremes Stillness Domain, Tang San suffers repeated injuries shielding her. Xiao Wu chooses to sacrifice herself. Bai Jin breaks the domain but cannot reverse her choice; he preserves a tiny thread of life, leaving her alive in rabbit form but unconscious 140 141.
Later Forest Account
Chapters 181–188 present Xiao Wu active in human form during another five-year reunion and forest raid, while the sea-island chapters continue her post-sacrifice treatment. The supplied passages do not establish a revival connecting these accounts 181 188 193 203.
In this forest account, she relocates threatened rabbit colonies, helps Tang San dismantle Salas’s Soul-Locking Net, and assists in ending the corrupted Hollow Ghost Vine’s suffering. She then chooses to accompany Tang San to Sea God Island rather than remain in the forest cultivating 181 183 187 188.
Treatment on Sea God Island
Tang San continues caring for Xiao Wu while undertaking Sea God’s trials. Her body is preserved, but her soul and body remain separated until the restoration procedure 193 226 238.
The treatment requires three medicines and the return of what she sacrificed 147 237:
| Requirement | Purpose / Outcome |
|---|---|
| Ten-Thousand-Year Sacred Soul Grass / Holy Soul Grass | Protects her soul and guides it back toward her body 237 238. |
| Nine-Grade Ginseng King | Nourishes her body; arrives at Seahorse City in usable condition 236 237. |
| Spirit Beast Pill / Elder Spirit Beast Core | Restores her heart meridians. The pill must be administered last, after her soul returns, and is lethal if consumed on its own 231 237. |
| Sacrificed Right Arm Soul Bone | Tang San extracts it from his own arm and returns it, restoring the movement of her dormant life force 238. |
| Sacrificed red Soul Ring | Tang San relinquishes it completely; the procedure lowers him from Level 77 to Level 66 238. |
Spirit Hall authorizes the medicinal pill’s release specifically for her rescue, without requiring an oath, gratitude, or political concession. Bai Jin arranges the carefully documented delivery of the remaining medicines 231 236.
During the procedure, Xiao Wu’s soul and the Soul Bone’s light enter her body. She begins breathing independently and her hand grows warm, but she remains unconscious at the end of the supplied account 238.
