Background / History
Origins and Founding
After traveling ten thousand years into the past, Huo Yuhao resolved to rebuild the Spirit Pagoda and pursue peace between humans and Soul Beasts. He chose Spirit Hall as his institutional partner because of its continent-wide influence and assistance to ordinary Soul Masters 4.
The project also supported the Life and Destruction God Kings’ mission: establish a Soul Spirit system through which powerful Soul Beasts could enter the Divine Realm by symbiosis and obtain Beast God Divinities 2.
Huo Yuhao presented his Spirit Transferring Array to Bibi Dong as part of his God-Making Plan. She agreed to build the Hall in Spirit City, while he assumed responsibility for securing Soul Beast cooperation. Spirit Hall announced construction within a month and gradual implementation after the Continental Elite Soul Master Tournament 13.
Securing Soul Beast Cooperation
The Snow Empress, Ice Empress, and Xiaobai agreed to the Spirit Transferring Plan before the tournament finals. Huo Yuhao still needed to approach the Star Dou Great Forest, making Wang Qiu’er’s arrival an important opportunity to establish contact 13.
Qiu’er later returned with the forest’s agreement in principle, although details remained unresolved. Gu Yuena subsequently tested Huo Yuhao by observing his battle against Tang Hao and declared herself willing to consider cooperation after his victory 21 28.
First Public Demonstration
Following the tournament, Bibi Dong publicly introduced Huo Yuhao as the Hall Master and invited the assembled Soul Masters to witness spirit transferring. Gu Qingbo of Skywater Academy volunteered as its first public test participant 28.
| Component | Details |
|---|---|
| Participant | Gu Qingbo, an eighteen-year-old Azure Marlin Soul Master who had just reached Level 40 and lacked her fourth Soul Ring 28 29 |
| Soul Beast | Stillwater Silver Shuttle with nearly twenty thousand years of cultivation, nearing the end of its lifespan and voluntarily seeking a contract 29 |
| Soul Beast Supply | Gu Yuena contacted Di Tian through a temporary spatial connection to her true body at the Lake of Life 29 |
| Procedure | Huo Yuhao activated the Spirit Transferring Array and supervised the merging of their energy and consciousness 29 |
| Result | A ten-thousand-year fourth Soul Ring and a ten-thousand-year Soul Bone manifesting as fish wings that enabled flight 29 30 |
The result convinced Bibi Dong of the plan’s strategic value and stunned observers who considered such absorption impossible. Gu Qingbo thanked Huo Yuhao and reported feeling better than ever 30.
Establishment
A month after the tournament, Spirit Hall and Gu Yuena established the Dual-Sovereignty Council. During Huo Yuhao’s subsequent two-year seclusion, the Hall’s activities became known throughout the continent and drew a steady flow of visitors 31 38.
Upon his return, Huo Yuhao learned that the institution had overcome its initial obstacles and that relations between humans and Soul Beasts were gradually becoming more harmonious. Its operation was established, though further refinement remained necessary 40.
Governance
- Hall Master’s authority: Bibi Dong gave Huo Yuhao authority above the Elder Hall’s elders. Outside the Worship Hall, he effectively served as Executive Vice-Pope, and his orders carried the Pope’s authority 17.
- Equal representation: Human experts and the Star Dou Great Forest’s Ferocious Beasts each hold half the Dual-Sovereignty Council’s seats 31.
- Major decisions: Implementation requires unanimous agreement from both sides 31.
- Veto power: Ferocious Beasts such as Di Tian possess individual vetoes, preventing unilateral human control 31.
- Developing regulations: Additional rules for the Hall remained under discussion when the council was established 31.
Access Policy
| Phase | Eligibility | Terms |
|---|---|---|
| Founding announcement | Soul Masters registered with Spirit Hall, regardless of level, strength, or background | Suitable Soul Rings were announced as available free of charge, with gradual implementation after the tournament 13 |
| Post-demonstration announcement | Spirit Hall’s own Soul Masters only | Bibi Dong explicitly restricted initial access to members 30 |
| Expanded opening | Spirit Hall members and Soul Masters belonging to affiliated factions or sects | Establishing an affiliated relationship with Spirit Hall granted access to spirit transferring 31 |
Spirit Transferring
Soul Spirit Contracts
The Hall’s central method uses Huo Yuhao’s Spirit Transferring Array to establish a soul pact rather than obtain a Soul Ring by killing a Soul Beast 28 29.
- Intended participants: Soul Beasts nearing the end of their lifespans can continue living within a Soul Master’s Sea of Consciousness 28.
- Mutual commitment: Both parties must sincerely trust one another and agree never to abandon each other, sharing life and death 28 29.
- Preserved identity: The Soul Beast retains its memories and emotions as a companion Soul Spirit 28.
- Combat assistance: Soul Spirits can leave the host’s body to assist in battle 28.
- Soul Ring acquisition: The pact supplies a Soul Ring without requiring a hunt 28.
Limits and Safeguards
- Physical compatibility still matters: Older Soul Spirits place greater burdens on their hosts; willingness and supervision do not eliminate bodily limits 29.
- Excess energy: Huo Yuhao suspected that the Stillwater Silver Shuttle’s Soul Bone could temporarily store excess energy, allowing Gu Qingbo to withstand its unusually high cultivation age 29.
- No universal Soul Bone guarantee: The demonstrated contract produced a Soul Bone, but the Hall does not announce that every transfer will do so 30.
- High-age hunting restriction: Gu Yuena prohibited humans from hunting Soul Beasts over fifty thousand years old, requiring spirit transferring instead. Violators would become enemies of the entire Soul Beast Realm 30.
- Not a complete hunting ban: Gu Yuena acknowledged that lower-level hunting and predation would continue 30.
Facilities
- Council chamber: The Hall contains a throne and serves as a meeting place for Huo Yuhao and Gu Yuena 31.
- Secret chamber: Huo Yuhao used an internal chamber for secluded cultivation, reaching Level 99 Limit Douluo there 38.
- Tower rooftop: Its glazed-tile roof is used by Huo Yuhao for private reflection and conversations with Wang Qiu’er 36 38 40.
Relationships
- Bibi Dong — Institutional sponsor who authorized construction, promoted the Hall publicly, and determined its access policies 13 28 30 31.
- Gu Yuena — Soul Beast partner who supported the public demonstration, imposed protections for powerful beasts, and helped establish shared governance 29 30 31.
- Wang Qiu’er — Intermediary who brought the Star Dou Great Forest’s preliminary agreement to Spirit Hall 17 21.
- Di Tian — Supplied the demonstration’s Soul Beast and holds veto power within the governing arrangement 29 31.
- Qian Daoliu and Demon Subduing Douluo — Qian Daoliu ordered the Seventh Enshrined to monitor Huo Yuhao and every move made by the Hall 13.
- Skywater Academy — Provided the first public beneficiary, Gu Qingbo, and later became affiliated with Spirit Hall Academy 28 38.
Political Impact
- Challenge to noble resource control: The promise of accessible Soul Rings offered commoner Soul Masters an alternative to noble-controlled hunting grounds and dangerous forest expeditions 13.
- Recruitment incentive: Access through membership or affiliation made Spirit Hall increasingly attractive to independent Soul Masters and existing factions 30 31.
- Academy affiliations: Skywater, Godwind, Blazing Fire, and Plant Academies became affiliated academies of Spirit Hall Academy during Huo Yuhao’s seclusion 38.
- Counterbalancing alliance: With support from the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires, the major sects other than the hidden Clear Sky Sect coordinated against Spirit Hall’s rapid expansion 38.
- Improved coexistence: By Huo Yuhao’s return, the Hall was contributing to gradually improving human–Soul Beast relations 40.
