Wang Dong is the daughter of Tang San and Xiao Wu, but grows up in the mortal world under the care of Niu Tian and Tai Tan at the Clear Sky Sect. She has no memory of her biological parents and knows them only as absent figures whom her foster fathers describe as busy. Their prolonged absence leaves her feeling abandoned 15 22.

Her guardians send her to Shrek Academy disguised as a boy, explaining that her appearance would otherwise attract unwanted admirers.
